i just install r19342 for the WA801ND ver 1.2 and try to follow http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge this wiki. But in the wireless mode there is no Repeater mode. I manage to make it work in Client Bridge mode but is not very stable.
Any ideas why there is no Repeater ,or Repeater mode ?

I think you set the Wlan Rules wrong.
WDS is the Bridgemode.
First of all you have to configure the Master Router for WDS-Support and than your WA801ND to WDS.
i hope it helps.
I have a question: Is it possible to flash the newest one dd-wrt to the TL-WA801ND or from the TL-WA901ND?

hi there..i use 801nd too (2pieces)..set with wds.
the setting is :
- set both as AP mode
- same overall setting for both 801nd
- in wireless menu tab WDS change wireless mac to LAN, then input mac address of AP 2 (in AP 1 menu), and mac address AP 1 (in AP 2 menu)
- working stable so far, client available to connect via AP1 or AP2
hello im kinda newbie with this whole thing and i managed to install/flash the dd-wrt fw to my wa801nd, and this is my question,
im stealing over neighbhours wifi which some times connection drops, i have access currently to 3 neighbhours wifi's difrent ofc can i somehow make my router connect to all these 3 at the same time and repeat all that as my VAP? or even if 1 drops to automaticaly connect to the other one? im an overnight botter at a game and i rly cant afford to have disconnects.
p.s i have some issues connecting mobile phones to the router, i cant get internet to them althought it connects, tried with 2 android phones no luck.

Hi, I installed the latest release (r19519) on version 1.2 and tried to set it up as repeater (not using WDS because the other router does not support it).
I followed these instuctions http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge#Atheros.
However it works only when my PC has a wired connection with the repeater. When I try to connect wireless it fails at the password legitimation.
It must be a bug, can somebody confirm?
Or else what could I have done wrong? I tried both, same SSID and different SSID. I was configuring HOURS but no success.
Finally I resetted the router and wanted to try it from scratch, but then a bug occured that makes the router unconfigurable and another reset is needed. Here's how to reproduce:
1. Reset your router to default configs (actually I dunno if this step is needed)
2. Change the local IP address of your router (in my case to 192.168.0.254)
3. Apply changes
4. Now try to save or apply ANY settings: it won't work! Firefox says: "The connection has timed out."
5. Thus, you are now unable to change ANY setting => reset needed
hi Vaako
the version i use is this version
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/20/12) std
(SVN revision 19519)
below is the screenshot of 801nv1 running on ddwrt, been running for about 2 month without problem, all my 801n accespoint run ddwrt.(used in outdoor with box).
the only problem (not a big problem actually) is the device will auto restart/reboot every once a week, even i'm not setting the auto restart/reboot option in ddwrt menu.
ps: sory for bad english,i'm from indonesia

bad news: My WA801ND is not working in client bridge mode with firmware 19519. At the moment it's just a useless box of plastic
It seems the Virtual Access Point (VAP) is not working with this firmware release. I'm thinking about reverting to the former firmware release. But then again I'm a very lazy twat and there'll surely be a new firmware out to test soon with all the bugs fixed
@Nucleon: Have you adjusted your computer's network settings to match the changed settings of the WA801ND? I once forgot to do that and promptly had to reset the device. You might also want to try to find the router using a network scanner, I can recommend "Softperfect network scanner". It's free and works like a charm if you have to deal with bugged networking devices
@Vaako: I can confirm regular reboots at least with one of the 193xx firmwares. Unfortunately I cannot remember which one because I did not have any stability issues with 19519 (apart from the fact that firmware rendered the repeater bridge mode useless now). _________________ TP-Link WA801ND, Firmware DD-WRT R19519 (2012/07/20), Repeater
