i can adjust the calibration data of the radio. so this would be possible. but it can also burn out the card

conceptronic c54apt
Micronet SP918GL
Surecom EP-9600-GP A1
Dlink dwl2100ap

this ap's are all the same hardware...
i have tested in my c54apt the surecom firmware and the dlink... the dlink is more stable...
but whit the 3.10 version i loose the power hack and only use 17dbm of output power.
i dont have bother to change to another firmware... but some guys have troubles getting the dlink firmware to others... the best way is downgrading... then load the version that is on the ap... and put out the ac cable corrupting the firmware...
then http to te ap... and shows a page telling that the ap is in security mode, and needs a firmware... this time, you load the file that you want and it will acept :D

this worked for me... and some people here in portugal...
if there would be a dd-wrt version it would be nice Very Happy

do u think all AP that supports 108 Mbps has the atheros chipset ??

I want to buy a cheap encore ENRXWI-SG, and I thinks its the same HW to 2100AP http://www.encore-usa.com/product_item.php?region=us&bid=2&pgid=1&pid=172

do u think I can put dlink firmware to this ??

cheers

BrainSlayer i want ask you a question...

Do you have a "fonera" with jtag?

If you have it, can you do a backup of the bootloader (redboot) and share it?

I'm testing on a 2100AP, but the major problem is the bootloader.
The hardware of the "fonera" is similar to the 2100AP
I want to replace it with the redboot to install on it a linux-firmware.
With its bootloader i can boot a linux-based firmware from network but not from flash.

I think that is possible (replacing the bootloader) to use the dd-wrt for the fonera on the 2100AP

What do you think?

Thank you

So, I see mixed feedback on the DLink DWL-2100AP. I can purchase approximately 20 of these units Brand New in the box for $20 each. (Should I snag all of these up?) Need to know ASAP!

Guys, does this unit really have the great potential of increasing the power output that high? I hear some people stating that the antenna is not removable, while others say it is a RP-SMA.

Let me know the Firmware you guys used to get such a good power output, and if you need one of these for your own self. At $20 each, they could be a STEAL.

Last question, be aware there are 2 different revisions of this product. Current item is revision 2.

@pctools:
I have DWL-2100AP and it HAS RP_SMA (i removed original antena and connected Indor 5dbi external)

About powerhack...This thing realy works..BUT... if you go over 50mW YOU NEED COOLING. Another thing..if you put higher values you must have on mind that you will have both signal AND noise boosted...so ..the higher value you put...higher power otput you will get...but also overheat and higher noise.

Some guys told that values over 100mW don't have particular meaning because all overheating and high noise.

I have Rev 2 HW, but as far as I know moded firmware works with all Hardware revisions.

Here is the link to look modifications (with active cooling). Page is on Croatian, but you can get pretty good idea from pictures

Thanks for the rapid response to my request. Anyone know how I can convert that internet page to English?

I will buy three of these, at $30.00 a piece. That way, if I break one, no big deal.

I have a new DWL-2100 that has firmware version 2.1 on it. When I attempt to flash the device to the power increase one listed on the Mervin site, it always fails. It says this file is corrupt.

Does anyone know a work around?

Thanks...

What is the use of all that transmit power, if one does not have enough receive sensitivity?
