I have Virgin 50Mbits. Attach the modem to a PC directly, and speedtest.net shows 50Mbits reliably. Add the WZR-HP-G300NH2 router (wired not wireless) and for the first few minutes it's 50Mbits all the way. Then it drops to around 10Mbits reliably and repeatably. This is download speed of course. Upload speed is always around 5Mbits.
Using Buffalo-supplied DD-WRT firmware.
Web admin screens remain responsive, memory & resources look good, no P2P or downloads running.
Anyone have any ideas?
This could include ditching the router, but please suggest a better alternative.
I have the same router with
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std
(SVN revision 14896) everthing seems to work fine except with the wireless dropping out in online gamming

1. Remove all extraneous devices from the network so there's just one wired device with a 1Gbit connection
2. Shut down all extraneous services on the PC
3. Reboot the router
4. Time from when the red reboot light goes off to the first sign of a slow-down
Result: it's FIVE MINUTES of fast, then slow.
Over and over again I get 5 minutes of full speed, then a moment where speedtest.net seems to have problems connecting, then it's down to 10Mbits - every time without fail!
