Ok, as per http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-detection I'm starting a new thread for this router. Sounds like a fun waste of my time to get this thing a version of dd-wrt.

Specs:
FCC ID: NHPWLN2206
RAM: POintec PT461616HG (256Mbit)
CPU (NPU + 802.11n MAC): Atheros AR9130-BC1E 6R0E39023.1B 0923

Second Atheros Chip (Fast Ethernet Switch)
Atheros AR8216-BH1A BE3448B4 0919

I'll add some higher res photos later.

I'm a little confused. The wiki install wants you to read the peacock thread, but then the peacock thread keeps mentioning broadcom. My router is Atheros, not broadcom, do I still need to read all of peacock?

The Supported Devices pagehttp://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Encore lists the ENHWI-N3 (close, but not quite mine), so I think it could work, but then http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hardware-specific doesn't have anything by Encore listed. So what steps should I follow? The supported devices page just says (and this is for ENHWI-N3, not ENHWI-N2) to use "ESR9752 v.24 sp2 - build 12527 - 20090720" -- ESR is never mentioned in the install wiki, install wiki just talks about BS, NEWD, VINT, etc... What is ESR then?

The board in my Encore ENHWI-N2 was stamped "21514632BRPA1A2" - indicating that it is a TEW-652BR. I had success loading dd-wrt firmware for the TEW-652BR v1.1 using these instructions:

Connect the router directly into your PC, and set your ip to 192.168.0.X manually. Do a 30/30/30 reset and then connect to the device’s system firmware update utility in a web browser at 192.168.0.1. Upload the firmware and let the unit reset.

The version code from the latest 632BRP firmware is AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-00 if you need to modify.

Thanks for the info.

I was able to get to the firmware update utility using the 30/30/30 directions. Unfortunately it claims every firmware I tried was for the wrong hardware.

I tried various tew632brp, tew652brp, and dir615_revC files and none seemed to work.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

I managed to get this working.

Poked around with my trusty hex-editor and found that the tew652brp firmware ends in:

AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-00

and the dir615c1 ends in:

AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-02

And since neither one of those worked, I tried changing one to:

AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-01

And for whatever reason it loaded from the firmware recovery tool just fine.

Also - everywhere I've read the firmware recovery tool comes up on the 192.168.0.x subnet. My unit came up on the 192.168.1.x subnet.

Hope this helps someone else with one of these Smile

Hmmm

Just to be clear - my unit is the same as the original poster. Same FCC ID, and it seems same rev#'s on the board (and same Rev on the sticker - A2), same chips etc Smile

Sorry for the lack of details prior.

I am curious if cjake had the same Rev since it seems they were able to use the stock image.

Thanks.

@3josh: My router is Revision B1 and it acts just like a DIR-615 C1. Using the Firmware Update Mode I have flashed the D-link firmware, OpenWRT(dir-615c1), and DD-WRT(dir-615 c1) without having to do any editing. There is a lot of info here that works for me:

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread.

Anyone been able to change the TX power?

(I had success putting on the DIR-615 first, then putting on DD-WRT)
