the WNDR3300 flashed with dd-wrt?

Have you tried linking them with no wireless security?

Yup, just tried last night and no go. However, I did try using the 2.4ghz radio and connected right away. Hmmmm.

There is no way to do a site survey on the 3300 5ghz is there?
