Hi all,
I have a WNDR4500v2 @r29739 and I have a issue.
if I turn on the QoS function (HTB, SFQ, Downlink: 15000 kbps, Uplink: 900kbps) the download speed only 8-9Mbps
if I change HTB to HFSC, the download speed correct 14-15Mbps
(These settings works perfect on my other (WNDR3800 @r29739) router so HTB -> 14-15Mbps)

First time poster, but long time user of DD-WRT.
My best experience was with a Linksys WRT54GL (one of the first version, I think).
I've been using a Netgear WNDR4500 and, now, a TP-Link Archer C9 since that one. I'm not a fan yet of the TP-Link w/ the stock firmware, but the recent experience with DD-WRT on the Netgear WNDR4500 has given me pause about switching from stock to DD-WRT.
I've read through several threads, and I was wondering if the WNDR3700 recovery mode + TFTP methode would work to downgrade my WNDR4500 back to factory firmware. I'd like to prep it at least to sell or give to a non-technical family member.
Advice welcome. If the TFTP route will work with recovery mode, I'll give it a go.

Folks:
I have been using E1000 (running brainslayer) for a while and when I chanced upon a wndr4500v2 for 50 bucks, I could not resist trying the new goodies.
Initially, I installed factory to netgear and the Kong's as per the dd-wrt and it worked like a charm. I still wanted to try transmission and so decided to give brainslayers beta repo a spin and Voila. I installed 27396 randomly and it worked fine and even downloaded a ubuntu iso dvd overnight as per the rule set for nearly zero bandwidth during the day on the transmission.
Loved it. It has more than what I will ever use. Some day, I will even add miniDLNA and come back to post my observations.
In the meanwhile, I wish to enable swap and mkswap and swapon are not present in the build. Any idea how this can be done considering that this is a DD-WRT v3.0 build.
I am just so impressed with the vibrancy of this forum. Keep going and I promise to write a blog on this puppy one of the days with NooB in mind.

Folks: I have now been using brainslayers DD-WRT v3.0-r30016 giga (06/24/16) and it has been working like a charm for the last 2 days. This build already includes transmission and I have tested that is working straight without any trouble. Have to turn on the minDLNA.
However in the meanwhile, if someone can help me on how I can get a swap partition work for the rainy day that would be awesome. I have mounted a drive for transmission at /jffs and it has a swap partition which I have created using gparted.

I had an experience recently that necessitated going back to the stock firmware. Note, I have a v1 of this router (actually it started as the R4500 from Costco). I was using dd-wrt for almost a year, but then I moved, and for some reason when I started the router at my new house it just gave me blinking lights and never booted.

I've updated my WNDR4500v1 to 30356 but just like before switching to HT40 on both 2.4 and 5 has no effect whatsoever!
Am I doing something wrong or is it simply impossible with dd-wrt on former Costco's N900 router? ((

After selecting it, click Save and the channel options will become available. If you need to change the upper versus lower, you must Save again before the proper channel selections become available. Then select the channels, Save, then wait a few seconds and finally Apply.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, GUI is not the problem here. I was able to set it right and those settings do persist. The problem is that, according to InSSIDer, signal itself is still 20MHz and max rate from my laptop's wifi confirms it. The very same laptop connects to my another router (D-link with a factory firmware) at 40Mhz rates easily. I start thinking that there is something wrong wit my particular WNDR4500...

i have a netgear wndr4500v1 with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/15/14) std (SVN revision build r25344).
Since last week, I have a bandwith of 200mbit from wan... but it turned out that my netgear on the 4 gigabit lan ports not exceeds 50mbit...??
can you help me to speed up the lan ports to get the 200mbit from wan at least??
and by the way.. is there a never version of dd-wrt for my router? where would i find the versions for download??

See the NAT/CTF section in my signature. Basically, overclocking would help a bit (if you can; doesn't work on my 4500v2) or go back to OEM f/w. Otherwise, get a faster router. Though 50 Mb/s seems low for wired; do you have QoS enabled? I thought I could get over 85 on my v2 (75 Mb/s service), back when it was my gateway.

thank you for replying that fast.
i have removed the QOS and overclocked to 662 and get not up to 100mbps..
but stll.. i have 1000mps lan connections on my router... why do they not pass through the maximum of 200mbps from the WAN? am I missing something??
Crazy thing to double check but you might have Cat5 cable and not Cat5e cable running somewhere along the line which would put a 100Mbps limit on anything downstream of that point. I know when I added a powerline network to extend my coverage that I had been using some Cat5 cables without realizing it so I would double check that.
