Yes. I don't have it handy, but I can say it works for telneting into the WNDR4500.

Edit: Correction, heres the link for what I used: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/telnet.console

The 4500 was down as low as $145. But it looks like the popularity is getting the best of it. It's up to $179 now.

It's been seven months. All the while some forum members were doing their own unofficial DD-WRT conversion for it. I think it's pretty safe to assume WNDR4000 won't be officially supported at by now.

The DEVs has gotten a donated unit and everything. Yet so far there has been no news about it. My best guess is that there must be some inherete design problems with WNDR4000 that prevents it from able to run DD-WRT stably.

You really are taking a mouthful, aren't you..

This thread is about WNDR4500 and Eko has just got the router and did the first entry in the dd-wrt source tree for it today.

The WNDR4000 has been supported since mid June (Eko got the donated router in end of May) and there is a long thread covering it together with the dd-wrt firmware for it.
Is that what you call "no news"?

Sorry, my mistake in mis-reading the number. Anyway, the point is there's no news in if this WNDR4000 will be "officially" supported or not. As it's still not listed under supported router database.

Does this router use an 'overlay' filesystem or NVRAM for non-volatile storage?

take a look at the directory structure. I would look for duplicated prominent directories from the root (/) (e.g. /etc, /dev, /proc, etc.) prepended by something like /rom, /overlay (e.g. /rom/etc or /overlay/etc). The default for openwrt uses an overlay non-volatile storage system (squashfs). DD-Wrt uses n NVRAM based non-volatile storage system.

Example, openwrt has a complete set of the normal system directories (/etc, /bin, /sbin, /lib ... etc.) under a /rom directory.

there is no rom folder, and a ls of the root shows all main folders, etc /bin, /etc, /dev, /lib and such
