Your client adapter must support it; that's usually the issue. What is your configuration?

2.4 GHz -> off

5 GHz -> Only-N (5 GHz)

SysInfo shows 72 Mbps ... Client = Samsung Galaxy Tab A T580

I recall some builds having issues with N-only mode; try Mixed-NA.

Good morning everyone. First time poster here. After reading about my N900 all weekend long and DD-WRT, I want to do this. Here is my current software
Hardware Version WNDR4500v2
Firmware Version V1.0.0.62_1.0.39
GUI Language Version V1.0.0.62_2.1.38.1

QUestions are this. Do I just follow the section below? Thank you in ADVANCE!

IS this all that is needed?

Thanks again,
David

WNDR4500v2 (from early 2015) Router flashing experience.
This being only my second or third attempt to flash a router and the first attempt at a Netgear, allow me to suggest to other novices:
Read the Peacock Thread, then, re-read the Peacock thread. Then go through this thread. . .

I followed the Wiki -HERE-
For a clean slate I started off with a 30-30-30.
Then flashed the '21638 mega' mentioned in the Wiki.
"dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-WNDR4500V2.chk"
Had a 'Warning' that the update was older than the existing.
Current Firmware Version V1.0.0.60_1.0.38
Uploaded Version V1.0.0.58_0.92.0

Went fine. Auto Re-booted, came up.

Then I read through Cmdrwilkens' post above and caught the obvious.
Grabbed "WNDR4500v2-V1.0.0.56_1.0.36.chk" from NetGear, tftp'd it and it went smooth and fine.
Flashed '21638' again, and then went with the 02-01-2017 Beta.
"dd-wrt.v24-31221_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-WNDR4500V2.bin"
It's been up for over 18-hours now and I plan on swapping it with the old router tomorrow.

what has been the most recent stable version people are using?

I used the version listed above and it seems to be working... 31899

The one listed on the wiki page is really old, I can't imagine that is the most recent we really should be using? https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR4500

The passwords to be able to edit the wiki got lost some time back so it hasn't been updated in years. That said I'm running 33215 on a v2 and its been pretty stable.

I see, thanks.

If you do minor upgrades do you have to reconfigure the whole router? that could be quite a bit of work each time. Just wondering, security is important too.

Not for minor upgrades; if you do bigger jumps you should reset and manually set up (or unless a dev indicates such, which is rare; an example is when Air-Time Fairness was enabled by default after 26138, and later disabled again in 29048). However, if you have e.g. scripts or VPN info, etc. you can copy out your nvram parameters and find the relevant ones to restore the more complicated stuff.
