Something like this should do the trick for the recovery if I am not wrong:
dd if=/tmp/u-boot.backup of=/dev/mtd0

This for all the files, but I am on my mobile now and can't write all the commands.

But take note that doing this you are writing this bit to bit, so if something goes wrong you will probably end with a bricked router.

Why don't you drop Sam a line?

Hi guys,

I got a problem with my whitebox.

I flashed it following this http://blog.nyr.be/hacking-the-whitebox/ .

But after reboot, it's messing arround with me.

Look at this video http://webzi.dk/IMG_1094.MOV and you will see what I'm talking about.

How do I recover from a bad flash? :/

Webzi.

Has this router a redboot?

If so, check some DIY about it.

GoNx has confirmed that dd-wrt works in Whitebox

But I guess it didnt, I think I should have used the Gargoyle build.

Is there anything I can do to make this work again ?

I flashed dd-wrt on mine later and it worked. I don't know if you can recover the brick by any way, but will not be easy if possible.

Get your hands on it: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr741nd Wink

"Serial port is the two round joints just above the small surface mount chip in the centre. Take power from elsewhere."

How did you flash the DD-WRT? Through the WebGUI of Gargoyle or using the original method on your blog?

Nyr I suggest you to correct some things in your blog.
First
Code:
wget http://192.168.1.1/tplink.bin

should be
Code:
wget http://192.168.1.2/tplink.bin

ok not really a problem because who is going to do firmware update should know this.

Another thing is that from command line dd-wrt version that must be flashed is http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download/TP-Link/WR741ND/1.0,%201.1,%201.8,%201.9,%202.0/factory-to-ddwrt.bin/3843

not webflash.

Perhaps for this reason many people have bricked the router.
I confirm that flashing factory-to-ddwrt from mtd command there is no problem.

Both things fixed. I flashed the dd-wrt webflash from the Gargoyle web interface and because of that I linked to that. Maybe posting that link confused some people.

Thanks for the tip!
