I'm having such a difficult time trying I keep getting a connection refused. After the wget http://192.168.1.2/tplink.bin command is sent. I keep getting connection refused. I have used 2 different computers, multiple tftp servers, turned off firewalls, antivirus. Still connection refused. At one point I changes the password using the passwrd command. But I did a 30-30-30 reset and can still telnet
Into it, I thought ssh would only be able to work after I changed password? Any help would be much appreciated. I have renamed the proper version of the ddwrt firmware to tplink.bin and have the .bin in the right folder of the multiple tftp servers I have tried. So frustrated its a version 2.4 by the way. Please do help
I just bricked my router

Problem solved. I figured out how to backup the whole router.
Requirements:
FTP Server on your PC (Filezilla Server, e.g.);
Putty.
Steps:
Set your IP for 192.168.1.2 (e.g.)
Run the follow command on PC: "ping -t 192.168.1.1"
Connect the router with your PC and power on;
After you get ping responses, press the "QSS" button on the router;
Connect to it through Telnet (192.168.1.1:23)
Run the following commands on Telnet:
Use the /usr/bin/ftpput to upload every single file on your FTP Server (PC);
Get a beer and be happy.
