I just got this cheap Chinese traveler router. I can't found any brand name on it. It's totally no name.
So, I opened it and you can see the PCB and plastics in the attached image.
It works fine with Huawei E220, but fails with ZTE MF691.
The chips on the board:
Ralink RT3050F
Flash chip: KH29LV320CBTC-70G - 32M-BIT
RAM chip: EM63A165TS-6G - 16Mega x 16 DRAM
So actually I have number of questions:
1. Is it possible to run DD-WRT on it ?
2. Is some way to add support for additional USB modem (MF691) to the existing FW.
3. Is someone know who is the manufacturer of this device to check if there some FW updates exists.
The four holes to the far left look like they might be a serial console...
Although 3G isn't supported by free dd-wrt out of the box, so if you need/want 3G support without creating your own kernel modules etc, staying with the stock fw might be a better idea ...
the serial port might however give you some info on why your modem doesn't work properly.

3G is supported by free dd-wrt on all routers with a USB port running a modern kernel (K2.6 or greater). _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
Hi,
I bought this router and after a few days, it started dropping the wifi connection as soon as a 3G link is established e.g immediately after a reboot or if i disconnect and reconnect the 3g modem. Only way to get it back is to connect via ethernet cable and toggle the wifi off and on again in the web-if.
any idea how to fix this, or maybe could it be done via a script that monitors the wifi status and if it's down toggles it back on?
any help is much appreciated.
I had a similar problem with a 3G pocket router, and ended up providing the 3G modem with additional power.
Used a split power cable (like the one that used to come with the E220), where the data cable went to the router, and the extra cable was attached to an additional power source.
Tried that, both a direct power to the usb modem as you suggested and also to the router itself with a 2amp charger.
the strange thing is that when i toggle the wifi off then back on through the web-if it works ok for days and days as long as there are no 3g disconnects.
The fix would be to make a script to automatically toggle the wifi connection as soon as it drops.
any suggestions?
PS: sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, I opened a new one in the forum.
