Hi! I recently purchased a TIAO USB Multi-Protocol Adapter from DIYgadget, and I'm trying to connect my WNDR3700v2's serial pinout to the TIAO adapter's RS232 header in order to access the WNDR3700v2's serial console. This is mostly just for fun, DD-WRT already works great on the router. I'm using PuTTY to connect to the TIAO adapter's virtual COM port with 115200 baud rate, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and no flow control.

The pinouts are hooked up like this (links to pinout illustrations at the end of my post):

WNDR3700v2 GROUND -> TIAO GROUND
WNDR3700v2 TX -> TIAO RX
WNDR3700v2 RX -> TIAO TX

I'm getting console output in PuTTY while the router is booting and I can enter characters with the keyboard, but I'm only getting garbage characters (excerpt: Úô»jÚTʺÚ`Të£IIHÓ±ËjÊ´ö).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

Problem solved, I was using the wrong header on the TIAO adapter. The correct header to use with the WNDR3700v2 is the TTL header. I tried a DIR-615 rev. D3 as well, and it connected just fine using the TTL header.
