Hi all, i just brought this router and the range of the WiFi signal its awful, no more than 20 meters, think it's a software problem so im gonna try dd-wrt.
Been reading a lot and there are 2 options (that i know of) to install:

12-22-2014-r25697
01-04-2015-r25760 (beta)

Can anyone help me to choose? or even better, know how to fix the WiFi range problem? the last router i owned was a linksys wrt54gs (more than 8 years old) and it worked better than the WR1043ND-V2...

thanks in advance Very Happy

Overall every build I tried so far on the 1043ND V2 worked good for my needs, if you just need basic routing functions go with the latest beta release, didn't notice any major hiccups since r24461 (first DD-WRT build I flashed on this device).

thanks you both
just installed the last beta (25760) and the signal improved a lot, but it seems weak for the router, i mind now i have the same signal range than the wrtk54gs. There is anything that i can do to improve the signal a little more?

thanks =)

Depending on the Regulatory Domain you use you could increase TX Power value which will boost signal strenght. The maximum for Netherlands or Germany seems to be 15 dBm for example, no matter how high you set it. Choosing Bolivia, Canada or NA I was able to achieve up to 20 dBm. It's still on the low end actually, other units I messed with were able to reach around 30 dBm using DD-WRT but the max value always depends on the chipset.

Thanks again, the maximum allowed for my router is 25dBm with Bolivia, so i will keep like that.

I think everything is fine right now, except that was expecting more range than the previous router. I'm thinking of buying a cheap router and use it as repeater.

Thanks for answering me, see you!

v2 radios are far superior to the v1.x

For me, although I have a D-Link DIR-825, build r21676 has been as close to a stable release as anything. I have seen no reason to upgrade beyond that.
