HI. I'm trying to set up vpn. The connection is successful, but access to a computer behind the router possible only via an IP.
Name of PC is not resolved. At the same time, interenet address resolved, but the browser is not open any site.
Please help
Undertone of you replay, helped me to take fast decision to try openwrt, and now I have perfect working 3g functionality (openwrt detects faster 3g modem than dd-wrt, also DHCP is faster - but in general it's almost same as in dd-wrt) and usb_storage plus extroot which allows me to run OpenVPN client on MR3420.
Also ipup script works as it should.
But I'm still big fan of dd-wrt.
Greetings.
I am a complete newbie to this but I hve a Mr3420 router that i want to put open VPN on
Do you have instruction for flashing with Open wrt and how to add usb storage?
Easy OpenVPN server setup guide Usb storage
You can install packages on usb memory, look at OpenWRT wiki, everything is well documented. Also you can ask for help in their forum. _________________ TP-Link WR841Nv7.2/WR1043ND v1.8/WDR3600v1.2

You should ask on OpenWRT forum. This is dd-wrt support forum - cheers! _________________ TL-WR1043ND v1.8 (OpenWRT AA 12.09 + OpenVPN) AP

Hi,
I'm trying to configure my TL-MR3420 v1.2 in client mode but I cant get it to work. I've previously successfully configured another router in the mode for the same wireless network but for some reason I cant get the MR3420 to route traffic. I have tried several flashes from the recommended to the latest beta. At first i thought it was a routing problem - ive tried bridged and unbridged modes - but I noticed the following error
ath0: deauthenticating from 02:1a:11:f1:35:ab by local choice (reason=3)

Hi,
I kept experimenting and think I have solved the problem. I had reached the point where I could ping traffic to the outside world and resolve names from the router and but was not able to connect from PC.
Key change seems to have been I switched WAN to DHCP even though I am not using the WAN port. I assume this was disabling some other aspect of the router.
I had to manually add a default route and static DNS

I am new to DD-WRT but have been using TP-Link Mr3420 for around 2+ years. Basic use was connecting my Devices to Internet using a Single 3G Modem.
This worked fine but still the stock firmware always had issues.
Like If router not rebooted in 7-10 days, 3G was not connecting, and newer modems like Huawei 303C was not working properly, It kept on Detecting/connecting/disconnecting ....
Recently another provider came to my area, which is a WISP, and I didn't wanted to pay him HEFTY fee for installation of some CPE, which I doubted was even needed as his Omni Tower is visible from my window and is only 150 mtrs away.
I bought a accounts and as WISP signals were 90-100% in my 1st floor work room, I was able to connect directly to his network and access internet but this only thru Laptop's Inbuilt Wi-fi.
While saving my self from buying a WISP Router i flashed DD-WRT on my 3420 v1, and Voila I see
1). Router is much more stable
2). Router works fine 24x7
3). Router Rx/Tx is more powerful than stock
4). My older Huawei E 160x USB Modem works just fine
5). All my devices (2 x laptop + 2 Phones + 1 Tablet)
are connected just fine and no issues in speed etc.
6). The interface is superb and has tons of options to fully control the router and mod as per your requirement.
Edit: Using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std
(SVN revision 21061)
I am also using a 3G External Antenna with the Router which is Placed outside my window, connected instead of one Stock Antenna, The router has become visible and active to around 75-85 meters (may be more) radius of my home, many friends who knew my SSID have asked me if I can share the key, but I am not.
Now the tricky part.
I read and followed lots of topics here, also
WIKI HERE http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Mode but Still I am unable to connect to my account on WISP using this router.
What I want to do is Connect 3G using my Modem Plugged-in to router, and at Specific Time i.e. 10 PM switch to WISP, cause i bought a Night pack to test his services.
I configured router to match his IP Range, I changed to His SSID, Password but I am not able to connect to the internet using MR3420.
Site survey duly shows his network available and ask me to Join which I do, and if for test I earlier changed my SSID, it Modifies it to the WISP SSID.
but still I do not get connected.
Can someone expert please help me on this one
I want to connect to WISP using MR3420 and if possible continue using 3G USB Modem in same router.

Hi. I have 3420 v1 with dead flash. I replaced it with good. (i have also few 4-8mb flash)
I flashed firmware from 3220v1, but wifi not works.
then a flashed bootloader from 3220 v1, firmware from 3420v2, but wifi not works, because art file is missing.
64k art (wirelss driver data, without it your wireless does not work.) this is important! you can also use the backup one from other tp-link ar7241 chipset routers.
