Hi!

I installed "DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/15/13) std - build 21286" on my N740 v4.20. The router works perfectly except the Wireless Security settings. I couldn`t manage to set up the router to work with WPA2-Personal AES. The only working option is TKIP, which slows down all devices. With the original firmware I never had this problem.

The other settings:
Wireless Mode: AP
Wireless Network Mode: NG-Mixed
Channel Width: Turbo (40Mhz)
Wireless Channel: Auto

Nothing changed on the Advanced Settings.

All the devices refuse to connect to the network when AES is used. To be sure that no old settings is causing the problem in the other devices - I change the SSID everytime I try to set it up with AES, so I create an unusable network. Then I revert the settings via LAN.

Is anybody using QOS on this router with utorrent?

I can't seem to make it work.
I followed QOS wiki on ddwrt, utorrent guide on ddwrt's qos and many other guide using google.

Please tell me the secret to setup QOS.

Thanks

Hi all,

I've received today a brand new TL-WR740N v4.24 and planned to flash it with dd-wrt r19519 located here for use as a wireless repeater.

I've read almost the entire topic and searched the forum and haven't found anything commenting on that exact hardware revision.

Is there any known mayor issue with WR740N v4.24 and dd-wrt?

Did anybody flashed dd-wrt on v4.24 with success?

Thanks in advance.

I finally flashed WR740N v4.24 with r19519 successfully but couldn't set it up as a wireless repeater because of this bug. Downgraded to r19342 and everything worked like a charm.

Very Happy

Hi.
I think I've just bricked my TP-LINK WR740N v4.23 with dd-wrt r19342.
After I turn it on, all leds blinks, and then only power led stays on.

Where can I find some good unbrick tutorial ?

For those who have the v4 (mine is v4.24) and want to revert back to stock for any reason (mine was repeater mode was not working properly) is to use this : http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=22015 - Only for v4

No need to keep searching in LOMs thread - but if you want to know, its on page 16 for the 740Nv4

Hi!

I have a TL-WR740N v4.23 and when I try to flash with dd-wrt I get an error:
Quote:
Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

For first flashing I used file factory-to-ddwrt.bin.

I have tried with file renaming to be like stock name but no success.

Any idea how to resolve this withut HW manipulation?

I flashed my WR740N with SP2 Build 21286.
My net is working but I am unable to access the GUI.
It keeps asking username password... Ive tried all combinations.. admin root etc.. none of them works.. How do I revert back to the stock? I tried TFTP but it again asks for a password Sad

Now I am getting somewhere.
Hence, the problem was in the wrong stock firmware (TL-WR1043ND) installed on new router from unopened box Shocked. After flashing it with correct firmware I have managed to flash with dd-wrt and then with webflash to version (sp2 build 21061).
Now the problem is that WAN can not get IP address from ISP (DHCP). And the LEDs for local networks don't work no matter to which I connect (1-4).
