Reverting back to R16785 - the latest version that has mountable USB
For me the last version where USB auto mount works perfectly with EXT3 drive is 17201 on my WR1043ND.
17990 and 18000 USB auto mount is broken.
Did you flash 18000 to your 1043ND? Was it successful?
I am asking because there is a post in page 1 where an user said that build 18000 bricked his 1043ND. As I do not have a serial cable, it is best to wait for someone who has to do the update...

DIR-615 E3 dir613e3-factory-to-ddwrt-firmware.bin is 6913 KB which is probably too large to load. I may be wrong but exercise caution on this.
I bricked my DIR-615 E3 using version 17990 which was also 6913 KB. Admittedly my fault for not looking at the file before trying to use it.
Version 17967 was also 6913 KB.
The last version that this file was 3457 KB was 17201.
Does anyone know of a way to recover from a bad flash. In my case recovery via holding down the reset while powering up is not possible. My router goes immediately into a frozen state when power is applied. The WAN and all four LAN Leds go solid almost immediately after power up and stay that way no matter what I do with the reset button. Windows 7 also complains of the ' Network Cable Is Unplugged '.
Flashed my 1043 -> bricked ... but i have a serial cable here

Look up and do a 30-30-30 reset and then do the powerup holding the reset until the power light blinks then flash the dlink factory flash back on it to reset it back with the original dlink firmware.
I bricked my dir 615e3 "twice" with build 17990 and recovered this way,i was ethernet wired to my computer in port one of router with nothing else connected.
I will try 18000 later when i get time and report.
Would like to know if Clent Bridge Routed works with VI. Before I debate climbing in to attic to flash E2100L.
Thank for feedback
cheers
Couldn't tell you, I use it as AP. _________________ ▲ ACTIVE ▲

I appreciate your reply. I know about the reset and holding the reset button during power up. Have done it many times on D-Link devices to recover them, however that is not possible if your router never gets to that stage. Mine is bricked so bad the WAN and LAN Leds come on immediately while holding the reset button and applying power.I cannot get to the point where the Power LED flashes orange (Restore Mode).
It appears that loading a file that is 6.5 MB on a router that has only 4 meg of flash will brick it, which is what I did using dir615e3-factory-to-ddwrt-firmware.bin as presented in r17967,r17990 and r18000. Prior to r17967 the file was less than 4 MB (and will load not bricking your router).
My fault for not noticing the file size and I may have done something in my original flash that contributed to the brick. Can't remember.
If the files are indeed to large, Brainslayer will fix this in time but meanwhile I would not recommend using dir615e3-factory-to-ddwrt-firmware.bin on your D-Link 615 E3 router.
NOTE: Build r17967,r17990 and r18000 for DIR-615 E1's file is also 6.5 MB and may cause problems.

Thanks for the reply - Looks like I have to wait for some feed back on 1800 and 17967 regarding client bridge routed and VI - both builds seems to flash 160NL and E2100L successfully.
