The router database recommends 17201 as the best, what do you guys use on your 3700?

Since i'm currently on stock, is it alright just to flash the .img of any build and then 30/30/30 reset or first flash 17201 and then upgrade to a newer build?

I need one that has the least problems with WiFi, i noticed some build have USB problems which i could care less for because i have a NAS already. I care more about router stability performance of WiFi as main purpose to is stream HD movies over the LAN from the NAS.

P.S does webflashing still semi brick the router with 17201, and i read your not supposes to reset settings when upgrading build, is this true? If it is should i reset settings after flash or just preform 30/30/30 rest?

I recently returned to DD-WRT after a 12 month absence. 18024 is pretty decent, at long last beginning to approach stock-quality reliability and strength.

i flashed 17201 again and it seems the signal strength is very very low.

With the E3000 all clients had a minimum of 35% but with the 3700 I now have clients that have 12%. So the range does not seem all that great, any difference from people on 18024?

I have a wndr3700v2. I have stopped using ddwrt for quite awhile since it didn't quite work effectively on this model. Been utilizing openwrt/gargoyle however there is a wifi drop bug for the past few months with openwrt + ar71xx.

I'd like to hop back to good ol' ddwrt but like the OP, I'm clueless as to the performance of these ddwrt builds.

The guide points to http://dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads?path=others%2Feko%2FBrainSlayer-V24-preSP2%2F2011%2F06-14-11-r17201%2Fnetgear-wndr3700v2%2F

this build is from june. Is this the most stable or any newer builds available with better performance?

18024 might be the next FW to try but still need more input from others. As well ash can you flash webflash.bin or do you have to tftp the img file?

So its nice and stable, all router features work like USB or still known issues?

I could care less for wifi LED's, actually prefer them off because they drive me nuts at night because the router is in a bedroom. As long as the wifi is stable and has good signal I will flash it.

Just need to know if flashing via web from 17201 is safe.

Edit:

Do you have v1 or v2, it seems v2 owners do not get the wifi tab, so 17201 is home for now.

DO NOT use 18024 with your wndr3700V2
the wireless tab is unavliable on that build stick with 17201 .

OR try my custom wndr3700 build I made for my wndr3700v2 based on openwrt 10.03 final, had no wireless problems of any kind running rock solid.

I also have a nas and stripped out all the usb crap in the firmware because my router is used as a, you guessed it a ROUTER this firmware is aimed at stability not dinky gimmicks.

I've personally found 17987 working best for my WNDR3700v1 so far. I tried up to 18024 but I do like the LEDs working (especially useful when trying to figure out which channels are functional and which aren't on my router).

My WNDR3700 has been running for 28+ days so far uninterrupted on 17987. Never did have much luck with 17021 for whatever reason so was on 16785 for awhile prior to the 17987.

Hopefully we'll get a new release soon (with working LEDs Smile

Does anyone have a fix for the wireless tab issue on the WNDR3700v2 for the newest build of dd-wrt???

Is it really hard to add the wireless tab again?

I think the problem is more than just fixing the "wireless tab".

Still using 15962 and up and stable for 94 days now.
I tried 17*** before,but had some crashes.

I'm thinking to update to 18024, but i see no direct advantage.
