Understandablely the lack of 5ghz is due to broadcom and not ddwrt.

Just wondering if there have been any developments or is it still a waiting game to see if broadcom gives up the 5ghz driver?

do not fret..

I have no official word but it is no longer a secret that dd-wrt and asus have a relationship as it should be. Too bad linksys can not see the "value added" that dd-wrt can provide (new e4200_v2 has an unsupported marvel chipset.. coincidence or planned?). The new asus routers use the same radio chipset as the 2500 & 3200.

if you check trac, support for the rt-n66 (dark night) has started and the router is not available to purchase just yet (I am saving my shekels for the asus "dark night".. that router looks like a beast!).

sooner or later, dd-wrt will have the needed broadcom usb radio drivers.

Note: my statements are only my opinion.. not fact except for:

Does look nice and it would certainly solve driver issues for other models if thats the case.

Should see it in 1-3 months if asus sticks to its timetable this time.

Not to mention it does look cool...lol.

Stock firmware is so boring...lol.
