I can confirm that the pre-built .chk file from http://www.myopenrouter.com/download/37462/DD-WRT-for-NETGEAR-WNR3500Lv2-Support-Release/ works just fine on two different WNR3500L v2 units that I tested. Simply flash the .chk from the stock web interface. After the initial flash, be sure to do a hard reset. Hold the reset button down while powering on to clear the nvram. If you don't do this, you might not be able to log in.

OK,
So we are offering routers, Beer and Pizza, how do we get this router officially supported ?
With these replacing the WNR3500L v1s and no more E3000s from Cisco, I would love to see these in the official support.
Anyone ?
Thanks
Chris

I downloaded and flashed something... can't remember where from... but it seems to be working. My guess though, if I remember correctly, is that it's kind of a hacked build and isn't necessarily working that well.
So PLLLEEEEAAAASE hook this up someone!

I see exactly this behavior, but even after 3 times of 30-30-30-reset it doesn't accept "root // admin" or "root // password" (and other simple stuff ...)
It boots perfectly into "step1"-image, the chk-file.
It seems my mistake was to not perform a hard reset BEFORE flushing the chk-file? Is that true?
I had never set a password on the original Netgear-firmware, so I assume it should be possible to get access again. The netgear pdf says "admin // password", doesn't work either ...
Does someone have an idea for me? A hint?
Thanks in advance, Stefan

Its always recommended when flashing new router firmware to 30-30-30 reset prior to the flash, at a minimum you should do a factory reset.
Have you tried doing a 30-30-30 reset again, this might clear the password that could be still in the NVRAM _________________ James
Main router:
Netgear R7000 overclocked to 1.2GHz - DD-WRT v3.0-r35965M kongac
IPv6 6in4 (HE.net), OpenVPN (with PBR and split tunnelling), Entware, dnsmasq with ipset
Easy ipset support for the R7000
VPN speed: Download: 77.96 Mbps Upload: 5.00 Mbps (AES-128-CBC HMAC-SHA1)
Yes you can get 50 Mbps+ with OpenVPN on a R7000 if you configure it properly!
Previous routers:
ASUS RT-N66U - The Dark Knight
WNR2000v3 - Bought on the cheap for someone else, neutered crap

It was at factory settings, I unboxed it, booted it and flashed it. I *think* there was no password needed when I first visited the WebGUI ...

Restarted browser at least.
EDIT: cleared firefox cache, restarted, same ...
I plugged my thinkpad into the WNR3500Lv2 now, fresh ... same behavior.
To me it seems that the password is something else than the DD-WRT default, *and* something else than mentioned in Netgear docs.
*should* it be possible to reset the password via 30/30/30 ?
Do you see another way of re-flushing or something? Right now I seem stuck, I have this DD-WRT running on that box, but no access.
Thanks, Stefan

stupid me ... got it.
Instead of pressing "reset" I mixed up things and pressed that tiny little WLAN button on the back of the device!!!
Took me 3 times 30:30:30 to just READ the text once in detail ...
Reset worked now!
sorry for bugging you ...
Now for step 2, the real firmware.

I'm in the same boat. Waiting for an Official DD-WRT build. I successfully flashed my router using the chk everyone keeps mentioning from openrouter. No further k26 builds will work on top of it. I will be happy to donate some cash over to this cause.

OK,
We have offers of routers, beer, pizza and cash.
Still no answer from the powers that be. I wonder what motivates them? or...do they just have "lives" like the rest of us should have
Has anyone been able to build from a more recent source with extras like OpenVPN ?
We are getting desprate over here
Cheers
Chris
