Hi Folks,

They is a very basic question, yet I haven't been able to find a clear answer anywhere. I have dd-wrt running in AP mode and acting as a dhcp server. It connects through a DSL modem on the WAN port to the internet (pretty standard setup). In the GUI, Setup -> Basic Setup -> Gateway is set to 0.0.0.0, and has been working.

What does the gateway setting actually do in the routing of packets, and what *should* Gateway be? Should I set it to my DSL modem's LAN address?

Yes, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but I could be taking a hit on my xfer speeds without knowing it, hence the question.

Thanks!
