You wouldn't believe me, but I actually run DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/11/14) std - build 25628 on a 615-H. I was able to upgrade after I did an factory reset and flashed the new version with the emergency flash tool.
Did you just do webflash, or also normal flash in addition? I think the webflash is smaller in size, which might make a difference?

Here's what I did:
Tried upgrade from webgui - didn't work (never works for me)
Went on to emergency flash with Firefox - still old version
Reset my Router to factory on webgui
Emergency flash with IE and webflash file - upgraded to newer build
Will try with the newer build this evening. But maybe I should keep it right now? XD

When you say "Reset my Router to factory on webgui", do you mean you just restored settings to factory defaults from within the old DD-WRT build, in webgui ? Or did you restore the D-Link factory firmware ?
So basically you say that by flashing the webflash DD-WRT file in the emergency room, after doing a regular reset, should work ?
Also, did you perform extensive tests on 25628 ? Any hiccups ? _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

I just restored factory defaults on the old webgui. then I went to the emergency flash and it worked. Maybe it was pure luck ^^
Yes, do the 30/30/30 reset first and then try again to flash the webflash version (not factory) of 25279 for your router. Use Firefox.
I did not manage to upgrade to 25279, keeps failing, but i upgraded to 25179 and works great, i'm very happy with this firmware so far. Finally have 300mbps wifi.
Thank you for the support.

ABE, you rock !!
I'm not so sure that he rocks, I'd expect that you will get overlapping rootfs and nvram partitions and that an nvram write will trash the rootfs.
You can count for yourself, 6x64KB blocks are occupied by bootloader and settings, leaving 0x3a0000 bytes (3801088 decimal or 3713KB ) free for the firmware.
what does the above section look like in your dmesg after flashing the builds which shouldn't fit?
Any warning messages about overlapping partitions? _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!

You used the much smaller dlink-dir615h-factory-webflash.bin file, right?
That one will fit and can only be flashed either in gui when running stock firmware or via bootloader recovery room.
The full build dir615h-ddwrt-webflash.bin can only be flashed from dd-wrt gui, that is the file which is too big.
Anyway, the size has been fixed for next build _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
