I know, I know another best router question.
Building a Hotspot for a client's customers to access WiFi
I don't need WiFi from the router. For that I'm using Ubiquiti Networks Enterprise AP Unifi in the center of the customer floor.
I'm also looking for simple access control. A landing page with Click here to agree not to download porn bla bla to get on. It has to be simple and easy.
Also a way to prevent a single user from hogging all the bandwidth watching Netflix so others don't get pissed their email won't load.
What would you use?
Hardware
Software DD-WRT Big/Mega????
So I'm looking for a good router to run some kind of DD-WRT hotspot-like solution and I don't need a radio on the thing. The Ubiquiti AP is vastly superior to any onboard wiring closet bound antenna.
I've concluded the best router software solution for QOS is .....Tomato. DD-WRT has let me down.
Older firmware has vastly better QOS controls and capabilities as well as superior interface.
Sorry DD-WRT....Tomato is sexier.

Unless you're using an ancient build of DD-WRT what is wrong with its QOS? I use it exactly for that purpose and it works great... no more bufferbloat for me
