Little progress, at last.
TFTP - upgrade success message, but wirmware still the same - my stock linksys.

My actions:

1.Set your computer hardware adapter to a static IP address...
2.Start the TFTP utility...
3.Plug the ethernet cable from your computer into a LAN port of the router.
4.Unplug the router, plug it back in, and immediately hit the Upgrade button on the TFTP utility.
Yes, i'm hitting it on receiving first ping, TTL=100.
5. Very fast upgrading process - upgrade success message.
6. Wait 3-6 min, then do 30-30-30 reset.
7. Log in web gui - old firmware.

Tryed with
FW_E1200_v2.0.07.002_US_20150108.bin
dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e1200v2.bin
dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-nv64k.bin

Should I do some additional resets or powercycling?

That's about all I know other than:
You might try to find a Linksys firmware update just newer than the one you currently have (you have build 1) There may be an update after it and before the latest.
You should try one that is same country code as you have or an international version.
Linksys website has been near impossible to navigate these days and I'm not sure if they still have previous firmware available.
Maybe someone here would have what you need.
Probably be best to start a new post asking for E1200v2 firmware. I noticed the 'sticky' post of OEM firmware is lacking for the E1200v2.

good luck -

EDIT: see here >>> http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=880030#880030

EDIT again: Looks like Linksys site is working about half-ass today. Try using their utility to update the FW.

Hi all,

I have successfully flashed this router many times. I am setting up a second as a repeater for my new roommate, but the FTP is down. I cannot download dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e1200v2.bin from http or ftp, and cannot find a mirror anywhere.

Can anyone share the file or point me to an alternative mirror? Cool Twisted Evil

Thanks!

Hi all, i have successfully install dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv64k.bin and it works great so far. But the only one problem is when i start downloading large file, my apple magic mouse & keyboard become lagging very badly. How can i fix this problem?

So just bought the E1200 yesterday. What is the best stable build without the heartbleed issue with openvpn ?

This will be used only for a Roku.

Thanks

Please give me a favor to upload trailed build of e1200v2 due to the ftp site was down.

The trailed build of DD-WRT for E1200 V2 is dd-wrt.v24-18946_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e1200v2.bin.

Thanks so much.

Hi
I am considering installing a "mega" build, but I am not sure whether it might be too big.
This build: dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin
has 8000512 Bytes which is 7813 KB or 7.63 MB.

Can I expect this to work with the Linksys E1200 v2? Or should I prefere the "big" build dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv64k.bin which is only 7406592 Bytes?

Second question: the feature table says the "mega" build has asterisk included. Does this work well already?

I am using dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k on my e1200v2 and it's larger than your mega being 7,873,536 bytes so you should be good to go.

Hi Noob, thanks for your reply. Good to hear that the 21061 mega works fine on the e1200v2. Build 21061 is also recommended in the router database. What features do you use from the mega? Do you use Asterisk?

I wanted to play around with Asterkisk, and therefore looking for a mega build without the Heartbleed vulnerability (see http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/content/heartbleed-dd-wrtdd-wrt-online-services).

Regarding the size of the builds you confused the size of the 26136 big and mega builds. The big is smaller than your mega, and the mega is larger:

dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv64k.bin: 7,406,592 bytes
dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin: 8,000,512 bytes

Therefore I was asking, because 8,000,512 bytes is dangerously close to 8 MB.

Yes, the [dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin] will install on a E1200v2

Might be worth the time to read thru before you install >>> 'New Build' 26138

thanks for confirming that the 26138 mega build will install, and for pointing me to the build discussion thread. I read the thread and besides some small issues the build seems to work for e1200v2.

Initially I was interested in the mega build because I thought it would include asterisk. But after reading the feature table again I realized, that asterisk is only included in the K2.4 mega builds, not in the K2.6 mega. Is that correct?

Therefore I think I will try the "big" first if the asterisk isn't available in the "mega".

Hi mrjcd,

does the Tomato-Shibby have VoIP support - some SIP proxy function like milkfish in DD-WRT?

I really can't help you with this because I don't use it but Tomato probably has better/easier QOS for such things.

TOMATO RAF says it has support for such

Hey cliper,

The wireless issues with the E1200v2 are very real and even make dd-wrt unusable on this router for certain things. Since you brought this up I'll tell you what I know without going into any techy details. Certain wireless protocol will completely confuse this router. I have seen the same issues on the E2500 and the WNDR3700v3 but was very rare and only in a couple dd-wrt builds and no I don't remember which.
I have not found a dd-wrt build, including the 18946 for the E1200v2 suitable for me to use as my main router.

Example: Using E1200v2 as router / WAP or whatever...
FTP download will be at 1 mbps at best. Upload not affected and is always scary fast.
Tried different FTP cleints on android phone, Galaxy S3 tab, laptops. Filezilla won't even work and it does a good job on most anything.
The dd-wrt / E1200v2 / wireless negotiation / has a big fat bug in it.
The http protocol is not too bad for me ... can download same files using browser without a problem.
Wired clients are not affected.

I still have a couple E1200v2 here that I play with and have installed many many dd-wrt builds with all the same results when it comes to that particular example.

EDIT: The example above is dealing with a secure ftp server ( ftps )

I have never tried any KONG builds .. they may solve this ????

To answer your question from http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=959843#959843
I am really partial to DD-WRT cause they have so many neat builds to play with but since you ask I'll be honest and say the best firmware I have found for the E1200v2 is Tomato-Shibby. It does not have this bug. I've also setup a site to site openVPN TAP using it with two E1200v2 and have never had any problems.

tomato-E1200v2-NVRAM64K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-124-Max.bin

This is the newest. I haven't used it but I suspect it is good -
tomato-E1200v2-NVRAM64K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-128-Max.bin

They can be found here >>> http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/build5x-128-EN/Linksys%20E-series/

'bout all i know

So i have problem to able to work with N-speed
All connected devices speed is only 54 i try G NG and N
With only N selected can't connect via WI-FI

I try all options and cannot get speed above 54G

Im tested:
dd-wrt.v24-18946_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e1200v2.bin
dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e1200v2.bin
dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-nv64k
dd-wrt.v24-26635_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e1200v2

Is here version whih can get N-speed ?

Or please fix this.

Sorry to bump older posts, but these issues sound like the Comcast WMM bug. This was corrected in Linksys and Shibby's Tomato builds but not in DD-WRT. It is an easy fix.

PostPosted: Mon Aug 03, 2015 11:06    Post subject: 30-30-30 reset, power cycle, and "reset to default sett Reply with quote
Hi,

I successfully flashed dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv64k.bin and it's working nicely. Posted a report in this thread: New build is out 26138 (BS) K2.6 and K3.X.

While playing around with different versions I noticed some things:
- After 30-30-30 hard reset I couldn't connect to the router via the LAN port (but wifi was working). But after another power cycle LAN port was working again, and I could connect via ethernet cable.
- When I tried the 26138 big the first time (comming from trailed build), I used "reset to default settings" and had some problems (WAN IP not working, showing 0.0.0.0). The second time (comming from a vpnkong build) I used "don't reset" and WAN IP was working correctly.

Can someone understand these phenomena?

Now I have a few questions:
- What exactly does the 30-30-30 hard reset do? Does it clear the nvram? Does it more (or something different?)
- what does the "reset to default settings" do when flashing a new build? My guess is that it loads default values from the newly flashed firmware into the nvram.
But why would it matter anyways if I do a 30-30-30 reset afterwards?
- How can using the "don't reset" option make a difference when flashing a new build?
- Does it matter from which build you are flashing the new version?
