Hi all. I'm noob here, registered only to say something about my attempts to flash E1200v2.

So, I tried to flash with .bin from ddwrt-wiki, all of them from this topic (from webadmin and with tftp) - results similar to those Nonaem got - old firmware stand still.

Then I googled some info. Small clarification - I'm from Russia, so I bought my e1200 here, in Moscow city.

Well here we go.

Quote:
Linksys LLC

Product: Linksys E1200-RU
Classification: Firmware Release History
Release Date: Oct 1, 2013

Last Firmware Version: 2.3.00
_____________________________________________________________________

Note: This firmware is only compatible with hardware version 2.3 (v2.3), but not with hardware version 1, 2 and 2.2.

Firmware 2.3.00 (build 1)
- Initial release

http://downloads.linksys.com/downloads/802/1019/E1200-RU_FwReleaseNotes.txt

In my webadmin i have a firmware version 2.3.00. So, looks like I can't flash latest FW from linksys offsite, because it has lesser version number than my current FW. And I have "Update error" every time on 8-10%.

But I can't understand why the TFTP method didn't work. As it says in release notes - FW 2.3 is only to HW v2.3. Maybe that is the problem. I really dunno.

Hi All,

Does mini-hotspot version works with E1200 v2?

dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_hotspot.bin?

I'm having the exact same problem as Nonaem on a E1200 v2 - I have upgraded my Linksys firmware first, used different browsers, and used TFTP (the Windows GUI). TFTP said it was flashed successfully, but I still have the Linksys firmware. At various stages through the process I've done the 30/30/30 reset.

I tried to download older builds, but their links seem to be broken on the dd-wrt site... I used the firmware provided earlier in response to nonaem's question with a similar result (i.e. nothing).

What diagnostic steps can I take to determine the cause of my problems? Are the download links usually down, or should I try later?

EDIT: My problems were fixed by using the build suggested in the wiki, 21676 mini. The FTP seems to be working fine now despite being down last night.

Hey cliper,

The wireless issues with the E1200v2 are very real and even make dd-wrt unusable on this router for certain things. Since you brought this up I'll tell you what I know without going into any techy details. Certain wireless protocol will completely confuse this router. I have seen the same issues on the E2500 and the WNDR3700v3 but was very rare and only in a couple dd-wrt builds and no I don't remember which.
I have not found a dd-wrt build, including the 18946 for the E1200v2 suitable for me to use as my main router.

Example: Using E1200v2 as router / WAP or whatever...
FTP download will be at 1 mbps at best. Upload not affected and is always scary fast.
Tried different FTP cleints on android phone, Galaxy S3 tab, laptops. Filezilla won't even work and it does a good job on most anything.
The dd-wrt / E1200v2 / wireless negotiation / has a big fat bug in it.
The http protocol is not too bad for me ... can download same files using browser without a problem.
Wired clients are not affected.

I still have a couple E1200v2 here that I play with and have installed many many dd-wrt builds with all the same results when it comes to that particular example.

EDIT: The example above is dealing with a secure ftp server ( ftps )

I have never tried any KONG builds .. they may solve this ????

I am really partial to DD-WRT cause they have so many neat builds to play with but since you ask I'll be honest and say the best firmware I have found for the E1200v2 is Tomato-Shibby. It does not have this bug. I've also setup a site to site openVPN TAP using it with two E1200v2 and have never had any problems.

tomato-E1200v2-NVRAM64K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-124-Max.bin

This is the newest. I haven't used it but I suspect it is good -
tomato-E1200v2-NVRAM64K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-128-Max.bin

They can be found here >>> http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/build5x-128-EN/Linksys%20E-series/

'bout all i know

EDIT :
I've been running [dd-wrt.v24-27506_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv64k.bin] (07/09/15)
on the E1200v2 as main router last few days without any problems mentioned above.
The K3.x builds seem to work very well on this router.

I only found this quote now after going through my own issues with the E1200 v2 and DD-WRT.

I've had an old DIR-615 running DD-WRT for years (it was the only thing that worked reliably at the time with my VOIP adapters). However, I've had stability issues recently, especially with my OKI 472W printer (which is great value for the money, but probably more suited for people that would be on this forum) connectivity.

I decided it's time to upgrade routers to something better, but for my office setting didn't really need much, so after some research which indicated the E1200 to be a solid performer, I ordered one from Staples.

Got it, flashed it right away to the DD-WRT mini trailed firmware listed on the device database, followed by upgrade to Mega. (I did this prior to reading the Wiki, and DID NOT do a 30/30/30 between versions).

I tried to set it up with a virtual WLAN, and that's where the problems started. Everything worked (more or less) ok, but wireless security refused to work on the virtual WLAN. If I put the virtual WLAN with no security, things seemed to work OK, but I could not get security to work on the VWLAN.

At that point I tried searching (Google) for this problem, but couldn't find it, and started reading through Wikis.

To cut a long story short, I ended up flashing back to Stock (setting a static ip to be able to get that done), then DD-WRT mini, and then Tomato-Shibby.

So far I've found Tomato-Shibby to be an excellent performer, nice interface, and most importantly, the ability to set up multiple VLANs and VWLANs with WPA2 encryption.

Any mirror for good version for repeater?
ftp server seems down

Edit: Found 21676, but unstable for Repeater. Virtual WLan keep messing up with the Wireless Security.

The dd-wrt.v24-27858_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e1200v2.bin works very well for
'Repeater' mode or 'Repeater Bridge' mode.

You must have a dd-wrt 'mini' build on your E1200v2 before you install a K3.x build !!!

If you don't already have a mini build installed then install the dd-wrt.v24-27858_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e1200v2.bin first.

good luck

I've had issues getting a consistent Wireless Rate with my E1200v2.

The quality has been so-so since I got it a month ago. I only have 25mbps internet so I've been okay with it up until today.

Then this happened. I am not sure what is going on. The rate is very low, and I am not happy with it.

I have tried many different configuration options and channels and no matter what I can't seem to find a combination that work for my setup (It's just two computers, but the second is two rooms away). Any suggestions? I am using DD-WRT v3.0-r28072 mega (11/02/15) from the official builds repo.

That being said, none of my clients are compatible with HT40 and give HT20 stats when connected despite them both being N recievers:

I have already applied the fix for people with Comcast, but that didn't seem to do anything for me.

Try wireless mode as NG Mixed
Preamble to short
Short slot override to short
Set tx power to 33
And disable CTS

If you can't get enough speed with that then use K2.6 mini 21676 or one of the K2.6 25974 builds.
If still having dropouts install shibby tomato

hi mrjcd this build [dd-wrt.v24-27506_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv64k.bin] (07/09/15) has no wifi issue or repeater bridge issue?

I made repeater bridge w/E2500 here ¬
See >>> http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=976019#976019
and few post under that I used E1200v2 as main router without any problems.

AFAIK the K3.x 27506 should also be a good repeater bridge.

The wndr3700v3 uses the same build as the E1200v2 and in this post
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=974252#974252
shows where the 27506 K2.6 build did not work as RB but the K3.x build does.

good luck

You can use Google to find out all you want about the E1200v2. If I only wanted a RB I would use dd-wrt. They are several good builds for it. I can't remember all but I think I did use 26866 as RB with it for a while.

Same issue here.
I posted the question best I could describe it here and no repsonse(s)....I dont blame 'em Smile
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=288942
I have run damn near every build of dd-wrt and Tomato and the same thing.
This on Netgear 3400v3/Linksys E1200 and E1500 routers. Only in 2.4 on the status page.......
However......when I see 5.5Mbps on the status page of either dd-wrt or Tomato I see 65mbps on my cell phone or laptop from the exact same router wireless connection. The ACTUAL speed is there but the status page is reporting a much lower speed.
I am of the mind the methodology of reporting the "rate" on the status page is bullpuckey and far from accurate. I have no idea where dd-wrt or Tomato gets that info from but I have now gotten myself in my happy place that it is not accurate and to only focus on the actual speed I get from my device.
