This was a good read, thanks. I'll update my post above once I've played with the options and found less busy channels with my cell phone and WiFi Analyser

N only is very bad idea as its broken
N only with channel width 20Mhz also bad idea
use either NG mixed or AC/N mixed and use at least
40Mhz for NG mixed for better speed
and 40 or 80 Mhz for AC/N mixed

the other thing is AUTO channel is bad idea too
use fixed channels always..
for 2.4Ghz i use always channel 11 + lower at 40 Mhz..
just for better TX power use country domain Canada
Airtime fairness is ok to use too...

Hmm using these settings and running Kongac, I cant seem to get both wl0 and wl2 at the same time. There is far less channels available to me.

EDIT: Ive changed firmware to "DD-WRT v3.0-r37582 std (11/03/1Cool" and now have all three radios working. Maybe there is some issue with the Kongac for me.

By the way, if you are wondering why relatively few 5 GHz channels are available, check the list of channels here:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
Channels 50 to 144 are shared with DFS, and to use these channels your router has to be able to detect DFS radar signals and reduce your wifi output so it does not compete with the DFS radar. Broadcom chips do not have this capability, so channels 50 to 144 are not available.

Cheers.

Thanks and also for the info in the other thread. The wifi starters guide has been excellent.
