I'm trying to figure out how to do something and having a hard time finding information because I am not sure what the term for what I'm trying to do is.

I have two networks with their own internet connections and their own subnets. Up until now they existed separately. I've now run a cable from one building to the other. What I want to end up with is the same two subnets continuing to use their current separate internet connections but with the added ability to communicate with servers running in each other's networks.

What is the name for what I'm trying to do? Is this what is referred to as bridging? Where do I need to be looking to get this working? Can it be done with just one DD-WRT router?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you run a second wire, you could get a load balancing router, run both connections through that, then out to your routers at separate houses. Static routes on the load balancing router and modified/disabled firewalls and static routes on the other 2 would take care of it. Cost depends on your connection speeds of the 2 networks, since you want something that can handle the total speed of both connections. Although it doesn't have ipv6 and there are some quirks in the settings, I really like the tp-link tl-er5120 for around $175. Its good for up to 350mbits NAT. They get a bit cheaper if you don't need that much.

Split out one interface on one of the routers into it's own vlan and connect to the other router.
