Hallo zusammen,

Sorry guys,

i was extremely tired last night. My fault.

I tried to upgrade my 1043ND from DD-WRT 14896 with WebGui to 18777. The Upgrade stopped after some time and since then the router is reachable with ping and telnet (even Internet is available), but i cannot access the WebGui and telnet logon still says v14896.

Is there any chance recovering it without having a serial cable? What should i do to get it working again?

I read many flashing tutorials, but i don't know which answer is the best in my situation.

Thanks in advance

I don't know of anyone who has been able to do an automatic tftp transfer of the firmware during the 1 sec timeslot where the router listens for tftp before trying to boot.
You have to make serial console connection, break into the boot loader and start the tftp transfer manually.

since u can still log in to telnet cant u just upgrade via telnet.

Method 3: Flashing with Command Line

This is only available on routers that already have DD-WRT installed and Telnet/SSH enabled. It is the *ONLY* recommended method to upgrade the router wirelessly because the file is transferred from the DD-WRT servers to the router and the checksum is verified to ensure that the file is not corrupt. Other flashing methods transfer the file from your PC to the router (which would go over the wireless which is not as reliable) and do nothing to verify that the file is not corrupted.

Telnet or ssh into DD-WRT.

Download the firmware to the router's /tmp directory with wget or scp.

cd /tmp
wget http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/stable/dd-wrt.v2x_generic.bin

Alternatively, you could use the mounted share if you have one, and simply download the file there.

Compare the MD5 checksum of the original and the downloaded file.

md5sum dd-wrt.v2x_generic.bin

Write the firmware to flash.

write dd-wrt.v2x_generic.bin linux

Wait...

Reboot

Restore factory defaults using erase nvram command or reset button

Thanks for your quick reply. When i log into DD-WRT via telnet there is a big splash screen with the DD-WRT logo. Then the screen says you can type "help" for help. I tried this to get a few commands, but even if i type it and then press enter, nothing appears. Is there anything i forgot?

At the moment i am at work. I'll try your help when i'm at home.

Thanks for your Help.

If the update via telnet fails, how can i upgrade with serial connection? Do i have to build my own cable (read about nokia data cables)?

Would be annoying if a bad upgrade would fail my router Wink

WRONG!

A webflash file is, as the name implies, intended for writing via the dd-wrt web gui.

NEVER use it for direct writing via cmd line!!
