I'm trying to access some Buffalo routers and AP remotely, but web management is very slow when using the Internet, compared to the speed on the LAN.
Each page takes from 16 to 25 seconds to load when accessed remotely. It takes less than one second on the LAN.
After doing some debugging with firebug and the chrome internal debugger, I discovered that the problem is in dd-wrt sending "Pragma: no-cache" and other headers to the browser for CSS and JS files, as explained on this post:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=597394
I applied the suggested fix, Better cache add-on for firefox and it works. But this is not a real solution: I cannot patch all the borwser I use and would like to use in the future
Is there a way to stop dd-wrt sending these no-cache headers for .css, .js and .png files ?
It's an ADSL with 256Kbps upstream, this means that the maximum transfer rate, when no one is sending emails or uploading files, is 30KB/sec.
Every page load on the web gui of dd-wrt is around 350KB in size, so in the best case (ADSL upstream channel not in use and no latency), a page load will take 12,5 seconds.
