Hey everyone,

Not sure where I should be posting this, but I'm having problems with using my Rosewill RNX-N300RT Wifi Router as a switch and AP. Both routers below are running DD-WRT.

Here's the details of my home setup right now:

MODEM -> BUFFALO -> ROSEWILL

MODEM:
- Connected to the internet
- WAN is connected to Buffalo WAN via CAT 6

BUFFALO WZR-HP-G300NH:
(Main router)
- WAN is connected to MODEM WAN via CAT 6
- IP: 192.168.1.1
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- DHCP enabled, range: 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.125
- WiFi disabled
* devices connected:
--- WAN: Modem
--- Port 1: My desktop
--- Port 2: Sister's desktop
--- Port 3: Dad's desktop
--- Port 4: Rosewill router

ROSEWILL RNX-N300RT:
(used as a wired switch and wifi AP)
- WAN disabled
- IP: 192.168.1.2
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- DHCP disabled
- WiFi enabled
* devices connected:
--- Port 1: Buffalo router
--- Port 2: Mom's desktop
--- Port 3: (unused)
--- Port 4: Magicjack
--- WiFi: Android 4.0.1 phone, Brother printer, iPhone 4

WiFi settings:
- Mode: AP
- Net Mode: NG-Mixed
- Chan. Width: 20/40 MHz Dynamic
- Channel: 11 (2462 MHz)
- Extension: lower
- SSID: Home Net
- SSID Broadcast: enabled

All the wired PCs are running Windows 7. I can't get my mom's PC to connect to the internet (it's connected to the Rosewill). My wifi devices all connect fine and dandy. I've tried: powering off all devices, power on modem, then buffalo router, then rosewill router, then PC. Mom's PC still does not connect to the internet. WiFi devices have no trouble.

Am I missing something here? I can't figure out why the switch portion of the Rosewill router isn't working when the wireless AP side is. Help!

Did you set the operating mode to router?

Setup --> Advanced Routing

Set operating mode to Router. See if that helps.

Just tried it. Mom's desktop still doesn't connect. It sees the network, just keeps saying there's no internet connectivity. Wifi clients still working fine.

Since the Rosewill router's dhcp is disabled, does that affect the connectivity of the wired PCs to it?

I see there's a DHCP forwarder option in the drop-down, when is that used?

Make sure operating mode is set to router.

On your moms computer, manually set an ip outside the dhcp range, ie:

Ip: 192.168.1.3
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Server: 192.168.1.1

Since the wireless clients can connect to the Internet, it seems the problem might be with the computer. Setting the ip manually would rule that out.

I don't think it's my Mom's PC at all. I've tried connecting my own PC from the Buffalo router to the Rosewill router and it also cannot connect to the internet.
