hello,

i have a asus wl500gp and use the mini build with a jffs partition. when i try to use ipkg update it says:

cannot create directory '/usr/lib/ipgk/': Read-only file system

that´s clear because this is in flash and not /jffs. what i am doing wrong? how can i make ipkg running?

thank´s a lot for your help!

hello,

-d just tells ipkg to use this directory as root dir for package installations. but i need to tell ipkg to use another directory for config, etc.

hmmz just checked indeed it doesn't work
it works fine if you provide a full URL though

http://downloads.openwrt.org/whiterussian/packages/

e.g.
ipkg -d root install http://downloads.openwrt.org/whiterussian/packages/screen_4.0.2-1_mipsel.ipk

ok, if it is running that way it would be ok for me.

just another stupid question: what packages are running on dd-wrt? can i take them from the openwrt link you provided, or should i take another source? i´d like to install usb support.

@xciton

I've successfully installed all the kmod's for USB access and filesystem on my WRT350n without a problem. Not sure about other packages though

I haven't been able to install the USB kmods on my WRT350n with the 0516 beta of v24 generic. People who've had success seem to be running the vpn version. I'll try that this weekend.

sjorge, How'd you get them installed?

When I run ipkg with the url, it fails to download the package.

The errors are different but I believe it all stems from the same problem that ipkg isn't jffs aware.

I had to install the std version to have room for jffs.
Once I had jffs enabled I just ran
ipkg -d root install http://downloads.openwrt.org/whiterussian/packages/kmod-usb-ohci_2.4.30-brcm-5_mipsel.ipk

and did the same for the other package that are needed acording to the wiki. You do need the full URL! so just look up the package via firefrox and copy the URL and install. Worked fine.

I did have to put a
gpio disabled 4
sleep 5
gpio enable 4
sleep 5

before I could mount the filesystem on my flash driver.
I had a 9/10 successfull mount on reboot with that.
