Just thought I'd post in here to help anyone else looking for a build for the 4500, we now have an official build for the WNDR4500 v1 & v2, along with the 6300 as well.

Here's the thread where the action has been taking place : http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=762254

I have this router and yesterday attempted to install THIS firmware. Something has obviously gone wrong, because most of the options in the web interface don't work. More specifically, I have been trying to reinstall the default firmware from NetGear. I go into "Administration" and then "Firmware Upgrade", select my .chk file, and hit "Upgrade" SCREENSHOT. For about 5 seconds, this next screen shows SCREENSHOT. Then (from what I gather) the router closes the connection and this next screen shows SCREENSHOT, and the "Power" LED flashes orange a few times. The web interface works, as in I can see it, but any actions besides from rebooting goes to a "http://192.168.1.1/SOMEACTION.cgi" and gives me a "Problem Loading Page". I hope I didn't do anything irreversible. Any ideas? Thanks.

Anyone know of a more recent revision of DD-WRT for the WNDR4000? The last known version is from 2013. Kong has one (22000++) but the later one's have better features as in the one I have on my WNDR3700 which is vr25309.

Matthew, I hope you're tech savvy. I did the exact same thing and for the most part, bricked the router. Even the 30/30/30 reset using a stop watch to make sure I held the reset button long enough did nothing. I was however able to recover my router but the process is not for the faint of heart lol. Just to give you an idea it will involve, soldering pins on the main board of your router, as well as finding a way to communicate over the serial connection. I cheated and built a serial to USB converter using my Arduino kit. If you would like more detailed instructions PM me. Best of luck!

After some serious issues with the 11-8 version went to the 11-11 beta and it's running like a champ!

I've installed Optware on a 4GB external thumb drive as well as have SMB streaming my media to all my PC's!

So far I love this build!
