I'm looking for a reliable N router model for upgrading to DD-WRT. Basically the N equivalent of the wrt54gl in respect to ease of flashing and reliability. I'm not beholden to any specific chip set or brand.

yeah, go to Newegg and search for DD-WRT Router and pick from the ones with the best reviews.

no guarantee you won;t get a lemon but there seems to be plenty of routers out there that have good reputations.

I am testing out the Asus RT-N16 and so far so good.

Go to Walmart and buy yourself an E3000
There is only a hardware revision v1
So you don't have to worry about buying the wrong hardware version
All E3000's are v1's

I have a Netgear WNDR3700 that works great. You can do ABGN and also for the N spectrum, it'll do 2.4 and 5GHz simultaneously. It's about a hundred bucks now but you get what you pay for. Make sure you get version 2 and not version 3 as I don't think version 3 is supported yet.

I just bought a Linksys E1500 from Newegg for $20. I believe it to be a very good router for the money. It also has 8MB of flash!
