Don't need Capitals, or write PLEASE, just read, the file you need is in page #1 of this Topic, to see it you have to be logged in the forum here http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=156288&start=0

Test file of r19342 while waiting for Brainslayers official support.

Use WA801NDv1 files for updates until the router gets its own build.

Use WA830RE v1 revert files from the sticky Revert Files thread if you want to revert to stock firmware.

Sash wants the dmesg from this build for a possibly quicker dd-wrt official support.

Hey..

I got the DD WRT into the wa830re working. I configured everything and it worked.

The problem is that it just work for about 5 minutes ( or less).. then it doesnt connect anymore to the internet. I can enter the dd wrt page of configuration. And in my isp router it says that the TP link is connected there. Any ideias?

Thanks

here http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge
your 830 has to be in same subnet as router to Repeat, if you browse down to Atheros you find the tuto
things changed slightly are the ones pointed in Bold
Atheros
Follow the instructions above from Broadcom except:
6. Open the Wireless -> Basic Settings tab
Physical Interface Section
Wireless Mode : Client Bridge (routed)
Default Gateway Mode : Manual
Gateway : Point to Gateway for network, usually IP of primary router
Wireless Network Mode : Must Match Primary Router
Wireless Network Name(SSID) : Must Match Primary Router exactly including exact case- Make sure you spell this correctly
Wireless Channel : Must Match Primary Router (This will disappear once you put it in RB mode, and isn't needed)
Wireless SSID Broadcast : Enable
Network Configuration : Bridged
Save
Virtual Interfaces Section
Add
Wireless Network Name(SSID) : Same as the primary router (v24SP2 I have not had any problems with signal dropping)
[NOTE] - You CAN try using the same SSID but it usually will not work properly. Many have had random disconnects and/or no connection if the SSID's are the same.
Wireless SSID Broadcast : Enable
Save

I just installed this version, works great!

Had to do this because of the connection drops with the original FW and cause I wanted to boost the range a little.

Have I missed something or why can't I do this range extending anywhere?
I think I just missed some settings tab. Will investigate further.

Thanks for the great build.

Dear community?

I am using this build for quite some time without any problems so far. Thank a lot!

But two days ago I had to reboot it apparently some processes got corrupted.
The reason I assume was a traffic overload. I have configured the dd-wrt as layer2 bridge (as I said worked like a charm so far) but trying to connect a wireless screen (win8.1 to tv) crashed it. Is there a newer build around that might not have this problem?

Thanks and regards, Claus

Hi, I'm trying to use my TP-Link WA830 as a repeater to use the "FreeWifi" network.

I tried to follow this tutorial (http://admincloud.net/68/repeter-signal-hotspot-freewifi/) which is working with the Linksys WRT54G.

If I follow your tutorial (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge#Qualcomm_Atheros), using a regular Wifi with WPA2 security, it's working fine, I can access Internet AND the WA830.

Unfortunatly, it's not working when I try to access the FreeWifi, maybe because when you connect on this kind of Wifi, you need to enter some credentials on a webpage.

Is there something I can do on the WA830 to allow me to use the "FreeWifi", like it is working on a WRT54G ?

EDIT: on the FreeWifi tutorial they activate the DHCP, and the WAN config type is set to "Automatic DHCP", but on my WA830 It's just written "Disabled".

Hi,

I finally succedeed to make it work !
It's not very stable, I have some disconnections, but at least I now have internet.

Here is my configuration :
1) on Setup/Basic setup :
- Connection type : Automatic configuration - DHCP
- Assign WAN Post to Switch : checked
- DHCP Server : enabled
2) on Wireless8Basic Settings :
- ath0 as "Client", SSID = "FreeWifi"
- ath0.1 as "AP", SSID = <the-one-you-want>
3) on Wireless/Wireless Security
- ath0 security : Disabled
- ath0.1 security : WPA 2 Personal, with the key you want

It took ages to get a WAN IP address, but when it finally succeded I got internet ! \o/

Why is there still no support for this Access Point / Repeater ?

What is the latest available firmware for this device?
