What is the latest available firmware for this device?

No official support for it yet: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

Use the WA801NDv1 builds to update (once you flash the modified build from the first post of this thread). Latest builds can be found here: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/
I recommend 27506, since 27600 has broken SSH and 27700-27745 have broken reset button, see the change log, I added them as "Bug" : http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=279466

Thanks for your help KrypteX.

Why takes it so long (years) to add this device to dd-wrt supported devices since it looks a lot like the WA801N and it is proven that dd-wrt works on it.

Hi all.

I was using the original test build of this firmware for a couple of years, but of late the connection would drop out in client bridged mode. A quick power cycle would cure the problem.

I flashed to build 27506 and now the wireless connection of the client bridge drops out and reconnects with an up time of around 20 seconds or so. I tried using the dual wireless option that gives 2 usable channels and i'm wondering if thats the problem

The AP is a TPlink 730 running build 27506 and the client bridged side is an 830 running the same build.

Any thoughts on a better build version or have I configured something wrong??

Thanks in advance

Thanks Kryptex.

I'll flash the new version and report back accordingly.

I've tried searching for information on the different channel widths for an explanation of the differences but haven't really found an answer.

Could you tell me what the difference are?

Devs usually need to have a physical unit (bought or donated) to be able to fully support it. Most probably, they don't have a WA830RE yet.

Well a store in Germany sells them for 22 Euro.

If 22 people donate 1 Euro I will buy it and send it to: NewMedia-NET GmbH (dd-wrt folks)

I'll pay the shipping costs Laughing Very Happy

I can do that too. Actually, I did... with a WA901ND v3, but nothing came out of it yet: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=983670#983670

I also donated a TP-Link TL-WA801ND on December 2011.
It was also a while till it became official supported by dd-wrt.

But hey, I spent my money and other have free firmware for it.

So for the people who like get dd-wrt on this device please contribute.

I've modified the header of the DD-WRT 27506 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WA801ND v1, so it will flash on a TL-WA830RE v1 running stock TP-Link firmware.
If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-27506 webflash build for TL-WA801ND v1.

Disclaimer: I haven't tested the attached build myself, so I'm not responsible in any way if you brick your router.
Please only flash this build if you know how to unbrick it.

Note: You must be logged in to be able to download the attachment.

This will not work for my TP Link? For some reason I still get the error.
Do you think I have a different firmware version? ( I have 3.12.17 Build 111108 Rel.31187n )
If this is non factory, is there any way I can flash mine to DDWRT? I'm really keen to get it working as I cant stand the constant standard firmware drop outs.
Thanks!

I don't understand. Do you have a WA830REv1 or not ? You didn't even download the modded build (downloaded 0 times), so...
