Hi,

I see that my Belkin F5D7231-4 v2001df is supported by DD-WRT firmware. So I tried to flash my router to dd-wrt with TFTP but I always get "Unable to get responses from the server". I read that it is recommended to use TFTP because there is a risk to brick my router.

I followed the tutorial on http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-turn-an-old-router-into-a-wireless-bridge/

and also the following tutorial for use of TFTP
http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/TFTP_flash#Special_for_Vista.2C_Win7_and_Win_2008

There I see that I must restart my router after opening TFTP tool and plug it back in. When I get the first ping (in cmd) then I must click on upgrade in tftp, but this does not work.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? I tried a lot of different versions on the dd wrt website but I always get the same error...

This is the only option for me to create a wireless bridge (repeater) (without connection with utp cable). If this doesn't work I must buy a wireless extender and it costs me 70 euros.

EDIT:

I tried also the following wiki from dd-wrt http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Belkin_F5D7230-4_v2xxx_and_Lower

And after this I also tried after upgrading to the latest stock firmware from belkin

Thanks!

nobody can help me? Also what is the micro (smallest file size) dd wrt firmware for the router f5d7231?

I found that the following is the micro bin file for my router: v24 preSP2 svn 11546 micro. Where can I find this file?

I tried this on my win 7 (not responding) and also on my win xp SP2 (virtual software). But there the sercomm does not find the router. I'm pinging the server (192.168.2.1) and i am constantly getting pings so I have connection...

I also tried doing this with TFTP and TFTP2 on win XP SP2. But i am getting the same...

I have one last hope and that is: I am going to install a Linux vrtual machine and try to flash my router there. Any advice with linux version? I am gonna install ubuntu

Ubuntu and Linux Mint are pretty "easy to use". The new Desktop in Ubuntu, called Unity, can be a little confusing when coming from Windows
