Just from my general reading experience...

The RT-N16 only had 32k NVRAM, I hear the K3 Builds expand that to 256K. The Extra NVRAM would probably be nice for storing long Keys and such...

I'd read the K3 build testing sticky to see if any successes were reported on your device.

Also look at the new builds threads to see if there were success stories from VPN users/testers on the RT-N16 (maybe they also reported if they went with a K3 build)

Perhaps someone with practical VPN on RT-N16 experience would be of more help, but those^^ are the breadcrumbs I'd start with.

Good Luck Smile

I'm running a RT-N16 as an openvpn client against an AC-68U as openvpn server. Works like a charm. For version info see my signature. I run a script based setup for Openvpn but this not necessary when using a 3X build on the RT-N16

The one I'm using works perfect but I'm pretty sure the latest build would work as well, that router is in a remote location so I upgrade infrequently.
If you want to upgrade to a 3X build on the N16, search the forum. A certain build need to be loaded after the initial flash before going to the final version.
