Repeater mode and security problems

Setup:

two WHR-HP-G54 Routers.

Source router = SP2
Repeater = v24 Beta (duh, heh)

I have everything repeating just fine. I run into trouble when adding security. Unfortunately, there is no specific place (least that I could find) that tells me what security works with Repeater currently and what doesn't.

I just want to go from having an unsecured source and unsecured repeater to secured both. I know that I read that success for security ranges greatly for repeater mode. Maybe it just plain won't work for me. I've been banging my head the last few days trying to get this to jive.
