Trying to connect from LAN to WLAN. Tried searching for help, but everything that comes up with my search terms deals with bridging routers or separating WLAN and LAN.
My problem appears to be that WLAN and LAN are already separated, even though I don't want them to be.
Specifically, I'm running WiFi File Explorer on an android phone, connecting to the router via WiFi, and the phone gets a DHCP IP address of 192.168.1.xxx.
When I try to connect to it from the LAN (192.168.1.zzz), the connection just times out.
Do I need to add a firewall rule to allow LAN computers to access a server on WLAN, or should it "just work"? I did try setting the phone's IP as DMZ, but that didn't help.
(Running Brainslayer's 24160. Tried 24461 but wifi was completely borked.)
According to reports Wifi File Explorer will not work in wpa aes environments and requires you to drop to wep and remove upnp security. It is poorly written and poses a security threat. It is not a dd-wrt problem.
also make sure you don;t have something screwed up in your configuration that doing an nvram erase and reboot might fix. In most cases, everything should "just work" except that on this router, it;s been reported that nvram values might not get populated correctly. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. I flashed a 24118 BS firmware in my AC66U. But when I do speedtest on internet my bandwidth was limited to 100Mbps (I have 200Mbps bandwidth). If I connect my computer directly under modem, the speed was fine.

Does anyone knows how to solve this?
I would go from your current firmware version and do two things:

I would go from your current firmware version and do two things:
erase nvram
upgrade to a Kong build
Lemme know what you find, my good man.
HiThugEsquire, thanks for your response!
The situation remains the same after I flash Kong's build in, I must be missing somethings. I tried flashing other firmware other than ddwrt and the bandwidth was fine.
the problem as i understand it is that if you are using a 3.x kernel firmware like Kong, you will not have as great wan performance as you would using stock because it will lack the native Asus NIC drivers that might be included in 2.6 kernel versions(like the Asus firmware). This is a known issue that affects all routers and DD-WRT on 3.x kernel firmware.
Here is a test-flash the first firmware that was compatible with this router. it's the 2.6 based 21061
and see if performance is as you expect it _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. I've flashed the firmware you recommend, but in the router status page it shows:
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) - build 21061
Kernel Version Linux 3.8.4 #110 Sun Mar 24 15:46:47 CET 2013 mips
It seems I'm still using a kernel 3.x ?
And the wan performance is still limited to 100Mbps
Yes, "Kernel Version Linux 3.8.4" means its still a 3.x Kernel. I don't know any 2.6 builds for this router I'm afraid. _________________

sorry for the disinformation. Since I bought it recently, I know alot less about this router than others.
so the question now is what is the best throughput people are having on this router on DD-WRT? _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. I have AC66u currently running "DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/05/13) kongac - build 23040M".
Id like to upgrade to the latest K3-AC (24200), do I just need to flash from the DDWRT web gui with the 24200 version, or is there a specific firmware i need to flash with first like the initial install process?
