I just got a new AC66U and flashed it with the download from the router database (v24 preSP2 build 21061). Unfortunately, whenever I hit "apply" on any screen I get an immediate "The connection was interrupted" as soon as I hit the apply.cgi page.

So I go back to 192.168.1.1 and try to upload the 24661 build (dd-wrt-24461-Asus_RT-AC66U.trx) and it immediately flashes to the error connection reset message. At this point, I have to turn off the router's power and reboot before I can get back to a GUI (which will show 21061).

My AC66U finally gave out after almost 2 years (pretty sure the NVRAM died). I RMA'd it and just got a replacement the other day.

I forget exactly what is the base build you have to flash off from stock ASUS firmware. Is this it?

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2014/06-23-2014-r24461/asus-rt-ac66u/

Also will kong build work on AC66U?

You can't use that kong build. It's for Arm devices. You need his regular ac builds.

@Kong,

Is it possible that you share your full kernel source and toolchain used for building your K3-AC firmware?
I'd like to compile a few kmods for my router.

I bought a new ASUS RT-AC66U today and followed this guide how to flush it with DD-WRT, http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-AC66U. I downloaded dd-wrt-24461-Asus_RT-AC66U.trx from the FTP and after I have flashed the router with this I got very starnd behavor. I felt like not all things are working. For example radio was off I couldn´t enable it.

I then downloaded dd-wrt-Asus_RT-AC66U.trx from the router database search, http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database and when I flashed the router with that software everything works great. THe only this is that the build of this relese if very old, Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13). Do any one have any idea why the latest version doens´t work for me or know a never version than Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) working os RT-AC66U?

Read the stickies at the top of this forum. Notice where it says not to use the router database.
Also look at my sticky for installing dd-wrt on the rt-n66u and rt-ac66u.

I wanna know why flashing this could have messes up me hooking up to my PPTP VPN when LTP/IPsec works fine. This is weird. Any ideas?? Thanks!!! Laughing
