Hey all,

I can successfully install the trailed dd-wrt build 21061 (as per the router db) but from there I cant install any of the Broadcom builds from ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/<build_rev>/broadcom_K3X or K26. If however I download the trailed build for ac66u from any of those directories I can upgrade fine.

In the past, I have not had problems flashing one of the generic builds after the initial build for other routers, including the n66u.

Is this the expected behavior for the ac66u?

Thanks,
Justin

K26 does not work on this router.

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/01-04-2015-r25760/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-25760_NEWD-2_K3.x_big.bin

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/01-04-2015-r25760/asus-rt-ac66u/dd-wrt-25760-Asus_RT-AC66U.trx

Both will be the same result. The advantage of the .trx file, is that you can flash from stock.

Yes. Don't follow the router database as mentioned in the announcements I'm sure you have read but just forgot.
Also use only trailed k3.x builds for the rt-ac66u and nothing else. That's the way it is.

Thanks for the reply. I read that thread many moons ago, before these newer builds were out and that guidance is kind of buried deep in that post.

But I see it now, so thanks for pointing it out!

I purchased a RT-AC66U about a month ago expecting to install DD-WRT some time in the future. I downloaded the 25697 build and stored it away for that time.

But today I was having some router issues and pretty thoughtlessly was looking for the latest stock firmware on my computer and saw "ASUS" int he title and installed the DD_WRT 25697 build. Didn't follow any instructions or boot/reboot/etc. -- just installed it (without realizing it was DD-WRT).

So when the DD_WRT screen came up I was fairly surprised, and at first wondered if ASUS had started using DD_WRT in their latest firmware. Then it slowly dawned on me what happened.

So somehow I dodged creating a brick. And now I need to know:

1. Can/should I upgrade from build 25697 to build 26138?

2. Do either of those builds prevent the HeartBleed issue?

3. Any functional improvements from 25697 to 26138 or just stability fixes?

Thanks for any guidance on this.

but i have a question on Port forwarding. I set up a DVR to be statically leased as well as port forwarded. IN both these sections of DD-WRT once I add the entry DD-WRT will add a row to the table but the entries are blank. Even after Applying the changes. Is this a known bug?

Unknown to me.

PS. Create a separate Topic for each question. No one bothers with a topic that is 85 pages long.

I have been using this one too with no problems since I installed it in Oct 2014. No problems with drops or 5 ghz disappearing.

Is there a newer KongAC version for this router?

Anyone having issues with 2.4Ghz band going to 20+20 but refuses to connect, or once it's connected it won't route?
