Is there any DD-WRT development going on for this router yet?
Once NAND flash gets committed to trac with the version 6 broadcom drivers I can start working on this.. I do not have one, however I have the D1800h ac unit as well as the new cisco EA6500 ac unit... I will keep everyone updated once it becomes available.
Well, I'm wating for dd-wrt firmware for this router. Bought 9 of them to our small organization, to make 2 wi-fi networks (organization & guest) & thought, that this device will wark normaly withought dd-wrt in access point mode, but...

I've installed the latest version (November Version) of Merlinwrt on my Asus RT-AC66U.
Here's what I can say:
Support by Merlin 5 out of 5 stars!
openVPN support (without the openVPN bugs in DD-Wrt, in merlin it works as it should)
Actually everything that Merlin has done to the firmware earns 5 stars, out of 5!
No bugs encountered and everything is working.
Thanks for your feedback!
I'm also considering installing it as there's still no visibility on a DD-WRT support and I need OpenVPN.
I was just waiting for the version 3.0.0.4.260.21
any word on dd-wrt for this router i know its only been a week since the last post but i just need the repeater fuction of firmware and neither the stock or merlin does has it. does anyone know a way to get it to work as a repeater or maybe explain how to install the Buffalo WZR-D1800H version of dd-wrt on it that Magnetron1.1 did.

Trying to decide on a purchase of the Asus AC66u vs. the Buffalo d1800h. I know there's already a mostly working version of DD-WRT for the d1800h, but I thought it looked like development might have stalled.
But reading that Fractal has the d1800h rather than the AC66u, I'm wondering whether the d1800h might be a better buy, if I'm looking forward to full DD-WRT support?
You're better off just waiting to see if either gets them if you really need it that much.
Someone was able to get the buffalo build to boot on the RT-AC66U as well, but it was pretty broke and only the 2.4GHz wireless band was working I believe.
With that said, I haven't seen any recent news suggesting any progress on the RT-AC66U either.
If you buy either one, you're going to have to accept it may or may not get any/good DD-WRT support, until we actually see it.
If it makes any difference, I'm very happy with the performance and features of my RT-AC66U running on RMerlin's custom build of the ASUS firmware.
I currently have the same one on the RT-N66U with the 64k nvram CFE update from here. Even though Fractal has a build specifically for the RT-N66U with that CFE update, I am running the generic without any issue so far...
I think there's a good chance this will work, as I can see that 802.11ac only mode was added to the dd-wrt web interface at 19546. Presumably the driver was put in at some previous commit...
Is there anyone here who's already tried it or might want to try it or perhaps someone with specific info why it might be a bad idea to try it???
