Just posting to confirm the 5ghz led still not working in DD-WRT v3.0-r28139 std (11/13/15). I'm not complaining though, otherwise ddwrt on this router is working great.

Just for general information:

Build 28112 has been working great for me. 26622 was my last go-to build. So far it seems 28112 might take over. Ram usage has gone down noticably. Everything else has been going well under my normal conditions.

The 5ghz LED issue i first noticed when trying builds after 26622. I know the 5ghz light works in 26622. I just updated the other day from 26622 to 28112. No 5ghz light in 28112. The few builds i tried between 26622 and 28112 all had intermitten wifi issues which seem to be fixed in 28112.

I'll be upgrading my main 4300 to 28112 tonight so i can try out 28139 on my AP.

Hello
I've just intalled 28211 to stock WDR4300.
My problem was loss of signal or weak signal meaning slow internet.
I'm in an apartment and in my area there are at least 10-15 routers.
In some place their signal is stronger than mine.
After 28211 it seems that at least 2.4Ghz is ok but 5Ghz not so great.
For both TX power in status is 17 although in setting is set at 20 and gain 0.
2.4Ghz is on channel 1 WPA2-AES 20Mhz.
5Ghz is in channel 40 (auto) WPA2-AES 40Mhz.
SSID's are different.
Broadband is 100MBs.
With speedtest on iPhone 5S i can get ~90 on 5GHz right in front of the router and a max of 50 on 2.4Ghz.
Router is on a high wardrobe at max 30cm from ceiling facing to the wall with antennas facing to the chambers.
So, questions:
- why is status showing 17dBm when settings are at 20
- can i increase TX power / gain for this router without damaging it?
- what settings should i use to get maximum coverage, specially on 5Ghz
- why aren't channels 14 and everything after 140 available?
- generally said, what should i do to increase coverage?

PS: does anyone recommend 28112 instead of 28211?

Set regulatory domain to US or Canada. And choose manually a channel number, not Auto. Then it can go higher than 17dBm.

So 28211 isn't worse than 28112?
Are they other recommendation to maximize coverage?
How much can i play with TX power and/or gain?
What about hidden/unavailable channels?

28211 is fine. Set US or Canada and TX Power 20dBm. You can go higher if you wish, e.g. 24dBm. Have you tried 20dBm ? Is it working ?

Not yet.
I'll get to it in about one hour and this will be the first thing that i'll do.
24dBm will not burn anything?
Shall i do this for 5Ghz, 2.4Ghz or both?

Try 20dBm first and see if the status page reflects it. The radios will go up to the maximum allowed in the EEPROM, even if you set an outrageous value such as 100 dBm. it won't burn out.

Hi, in the latest build, I am unable to connect to the 5GHz access point at 300mbps, despite the channel width being set to Full, and the router showing a rate of 450mb/s under the status page. All devices are connecting at just 144mb/s.

Set Wide HT40, you're on HT20.

If i set any bigger value than 19 status is showing 19.
It does this with Canada on both, 40Mhz on both, channel 1 on 2.4 and channel 165 on 5Ghz.
The problem is that channel 165 on 5Ghz makes my iPhone to not connect - wrong password.
No changes on gain seems to affect anything.
Still weak 5Ghz signal around the house.

Don't use side channels 1 or 11 if you want high TX Power. Use 6 for example.

Ok, this solved 2.4 as i 21dbm is showing in status.
How much can i increase it?

5 is not ok as channel 54 goes only to 14dbm and some others are not being recognized by iphone - don't know why.

Connect with SSH or Telnet to router and run this in command line:
Code:
iw list

It will give you the max TX Power for each channel.

Done that, thanks!
I've selected 6 and entered 22dBm for 2.4Ghz and 108 21dBm for 5Ghz.
At least for now, it seems good, although speedtest graph is oscillating.
I think i'll need a professional calibration or another router.

LE: 5Ghz signal dropped after a while. I've restarted it to asign channel 1 to 2.4Ghz and now is live again. I'll let it like this for the moment and come back if it drops again.

LE2: 5Ghz signal dropped again; can i troubleshoot it or shall i consider it a bug and wait for fix while enabling only 2.4?
