Hi Guys, after I install the DD-WRT on my TL-WDR4300 (n750), I only get a TX RATE of 54mbps even on 5GHz.

Infos:

TPLINK TL-WDR4300 v1
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/22/14) std - build 25697
Kernel Version Linux 3.10.63 #5337 Mon Dec 22 03:48:25 CET 2014 mips

2.4GHz:

Wireless Network Mode: NG-Mixed
Channel Width: Dynamic 20/40
Wireless Channel: 11
Extensão Channel: lower (default)

5GHz:

Wireless Network Mode: NA-Mixed
Channel Width: Wide HT40 (20/40)
Wireless Channel: auto
Extensão Channel: lower (default)

Same SSID on both. I left all the other options on default.

When I connect my wifi is always on 2,4Ghz with 20Mhz and 54Mpbs.

If I use a different SSID to 5Ghz, I get a 5Ghz with 20Mhz and 54Mpbs.

Someone have the best wifi setup for this router? Because on stock firmware I get a connection of 300Mpbs.

I appreciate any help. Thanks.

look at the qualcomm atheros wifi settings wiki below. things like dont use tkip security, dont use auto channel, dont use dynamic 20/40 use ht20 only, ht40 only, or vht80 only, etc are all in there.

Hi! I found the problem:

"Having this set to TKIP or TKIP+AES in conjunction with incorreto security mode noted above, is THE leading cause of not getting n/ac speeds in DD-WRT"

Wireless security was with TKIP + AES.

Thanks!!! Best Regards

I just bought a TP Link TL-WDR4300 router with the intention of using it as a wireless repeater

I have been following the standard install instructions.

30 30 30 reset
Then into the router, to the "Upgrade the firmware," and then select the "factory-to ddwrt.bin"

The router then rejects the update, saying that the firmware is incorrect.

"error 18005"

Came across this - which claims they are now locking down all their routers.

http://www.myce.com/news/tp-link-has-started-to-lock-its-routers-to-prevent-installing-dd-wrt-78623/

Anybody hear about this? Any workaround?

It seems that this router is giving people lots of trouble (although that is usually the impression one gets when reading a support forum).

Should I return it and save myself the trouble?

Any replies greatly appreciated

I transferred 1+ GB from my 'droid phone to my file server over 5Ghz Wifi without any problems with r29519. LEDs aren't on but mine is hidden in another room so it doesn't bother me so much.

I have tried the dd-wrt fermware in my tl-wdr4300 v1 in the past and I didn't like the fact it is losing the 5ghz, so I reverted it to the stock firmware, and now I would like again to try the dd-wrt firmware since I am not happy with the stock firmware, so I have 2 questions before I start, one it is good idea to have both 2.4 and 5ghz with same SSID? Second, I was only able to find r25697 dated 22-12-2014, but I see people using r29519 which I think it is newer version, so where I can find this one?

Thanks in advance for any help,

The WiFi dropout have been gone for a bit now. don't recall what version fixed the problem but the new versions have been working quit well lately. I still lose WiFi on the unit but only with large file transfers (2-3gb or larger). I'm suspecting heat is the issue at this point.

I resurrected my old tl-wdr4300v1 a few days ago. I reset and installed build r29346 because I read in another post here on the forum someone else was having good results with that build. I’m using the tl-wdr4300-webflash.bin file and not the tl-wdr4300_us-webflash.bin. My tl-wdr4300v1 has been up two days and the wireless has been working perfectly which the exception of the 5ghz LED being out.

My wireless speeds essentially match our wired desktop speeds. I’m seeing a 2ms difference in ping times between my wired and wireless connections which equates to 18ms pings on the desktop and 20ms pings on my laptop with speedtest.net.

As far the SSID names I use similar but different names but that's just me. New and old builds are here ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/

the drop just happed on dir-862L latest build, as usual it was during an idle time where all devices were idle for hours. doing a site survey brings the radio broadcasting back..trying beacon int 50 now..

Me too. I tried the same SSID years ago when I first got my routers but, for troubleshooting, I think I changed because I had so many drops. Turns out the 2.4G radio in the TP-link just doesn't like to play nice. Just never changed back. Works fine.
