I had installed dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas-e2k-e3k.bin on my e3000 ("upgraded" from a 610nv2).
It has been fairly stable, but I needed to get openvpn in the build, so I want to flash a mega or big build.
I have tried dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-e2k-e3k.bin, as well as dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-e2k-e3k.bin and dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas-e2k-e3k.bin, but they all show the same sypmtoms
If I 30-30-30, and then try flash via the web interface, the file gets uploaded, the interface waits for 300 secs, and then I reconnect, but it is the same original version (std-usb-nas - build 16785).
I have also tried flashing from cmd line (write dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas-e2k-e3k.bin linux for example). As soon as I run the command, my ssh session gets disconnected. I can immediately reconnect, and the router is running the same original version, and the write command is not running (checked via ps)
I cannot seem to find a way to actually reflash the firmware.
Anyone have ideas?

Dd-wrt is now protected against people flashing the wrong builds, to a point. If its not the right build for your router.. It will reject it.
Read the Broadcom stickies.
And if you read the peacock thread, you'd know that you're trying to flash a trailed build onto a router that already had dd-wrt in it. You need a generic build from this point.
Peacock thread, note 4.
Also read the sticky regarding the e series routers... And make certain you have the flash storage space available to flash a big or mega build. For big you need a 6 meg flash. For meg, 8 _________________ The Peacock Thread <-- New? READ THIS!

e2k-e3k builds have been replaced with builds which file names ends with nv60k.
16785 is one of the last builds of e2k-e3k type and once it is on your router then you can only upgrade with nv60k type builds. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
I had read/skimmed peacock, as well as the wiki for e3000, which contains the following:
Quote:
Do the initial flash with the trailed build that contains your router model number...(example...xxx_e2000.bin for a E2000 model) Once you have done the initial flash...you can upgrade firmware using the build that contains xxx_e2k_e3k.bin for all subsequent flashes. (If you are using a 16758 or higher build, which is newer than is recommended, you must use a nv60k build rather than the e2k-e3k build
I have tried using the 16785 big nv60k build, with exactly the same results.
When the firmware is rejected, using the cmd line "write" command, should it not return to the cmd line, or output an error, instead of killing ssh sessions?
If you have xinetd active, it can mess with the flashing. Flash via port 88 if you have OTRW installed. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

Kong mod show same symptoms (ssh disconnect when running write command, or apparent success via web interface, but no actual version change)
Is there something specific about the 16785 build for e2k-e3k which is preventing any further version changes?
You should not flash by ssh. I once tried flashing my E3000 with nohup mtd write firm.bin linux and it has bricked it. Happily, I was able to TFTP a firmware to the router. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

Thanks for that tip.
Im my case, I have been trying both "write img.bin linux", as well as the web interface (standard one on port 80), both without success. I am about to try a build near 18000

Just throw a little blip in there regarding that.. So people know.
They must also be able to read, I don't see any need for a wiki change
