Hello,

Running DD-WRT v24 ( 05/24/08 ) vpn (SVN revision 9526)

1. Have home PC THEBOX (192.168.1.100)
2. Have DD-WRT router THEROUTER (192.168.1.1)
3. Have DynDNS account which forwards mydomain.com to REAL ip of DD-WRT router

Trying to setup VPN from my laptop to home network behind DD-WRT.

Followed Wiki to enable PPTP ....

1. Services->PPTP->Enable
Server IP: 192.168.1.1
Client IPs: 192.168.1.200-192.168.1.210
CHAP: username * passwd *

2. NAT/Qos -> Port Forwarding -> Port Forward
PPTP 1723 (Both) -> 192.168.1.1:1723
GRE 47 (Both) -> 192.168.1.1:47

3. Security -> VPN-> PPTP Passthrough -> Enable

Cannot connect to VPN from my laptop. Error comes VERY fast.

After some investigation I figured out that nobody listens on 1723 port.

I used both (pointed to mydomain.com or router WAN IP)
- Online port scanner to 1723
http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/
- and PortQry:
Starting portqry.exe -n mydomain.com -e 1723 -p BOTH ...
Querying target system called: mydomain.com
Attempting to resolve name to IP address...
Name resolved to 97.xx.xx.xx
querying...
TCP port 1723 (pptp service): NOT LISTENING
UDP port 1723 (unknown service): LISTENING or FILTERED
portqry.exe -n mydomain.com -e 1723 -p BOTH exits with return code 0x00000002.

Is that NORMAL that nobody listens on 1723 (TCP) ?
If so, why cannot I connect and how to troubleshoot ?

I also encounter this problem of PPTP connection refused

I can only connect PTPP localy but not from internet.

All ports are proper forwarded as in the wiki.

Got it to work now.

Sever IP 0.0.0.0
Clent IP's you have to set IP range that is totaly free from your DHCP.
in my case: 192.168.1.152-160 and up but I needed only 8 IP's.
