First off, thank you very much Tathagata for all your work!
As mentioned previously, I am seeing similar results for 2.4GHz(~134Mb/s) vs 5GHz(~58Mb/s). I followed your how-to but 2.4 still seems the better choice at the moment.
This is my first run with DD-WRT and I've been happily pleased .. the majority of my time spent Googling all the options
tathagata thanks for the new release. It appears to be working well on G5 channel 48. However, I too noticed you cannot select the high channels like 157 or 161 they don't seem to take.
I have a question about the Advanced page for G5 I show the TX power as 1496. If you try to change anything on this page it shows you an error stating that the TX power is out of range above 251. I can set the TX power to 71 make my additional changes eg. Beacon Interval, but then when the page reloads the Beacon Interval stays to the new value but the TX Power goes back to 1496. Is this value how the 5G issue was resolved? Do you expect to have a normal range value in this field in future releases?
Thanks, still testing I'll post again if I have more questions. THANKS AGAIN!

There is an issue in setting tx range. It will be fixed in next release.
I can select higher channel. I will test it again in my set up.
1. Making changes via the web GUI is often resulting in web browser timeouts, which usually take 1-2 minutes to come back online. I can live with this. I did required one hard reset to get it to work again after making a change.
2. Cannot use any 5GHz channels 149 and above...This is true with North America Region.
3. I would like to see the ability to lock in my primary channel and specify a range of bonding channels. I have some competition in my area and it would be nice to specify (Example: 2.4Ghz: Primary Channel 3 and Bond Range 5, 6, 10, 11, etc…OR…5GHz: Primary Channel 149 and Bond Range 153, 157, 161, etc). After extensive analyzing of my home location, I know which channels are best.
4. DD-WRT assigns the same default MAC address to its WLAN (Wl-1) interfaces. This prevents the use of Bridging and WDS. Need to have option to change MAC on all interfaces.
5. Open-VPN per other member requests.
6. Can we create an option to disable MAT (MAC Address Translation) when using bridging, etc?
7. Improve WEB interface to reflect status accurately. Examples: Channel bonding on 5GHz radio is not reflected properly and shows incorrect channel used. 5GHz radio TX power shows a value outside allowed range.
8. Improve IPv6 configuration options. YES, ISPs are now turning up IPv6 so its time to see these options in all network software. Comcast (who I have) turned up IPv6 roughly 5 months and ago and it works great.
9. Bandwidth management.
10. Per member request. TX Power cannot be changed.

Didn't you select EUROPE as your location? If you did 48 is the top channel.
If you select NORTH AMERICA you'll get the 161 channel.
Yes, I do have North America chosen. The Higher channels are selectable in the pull down but when one saves/applies they don't seem to take. Does the router need to be rebooted after this change? It seems I was able to select a channel up to channel 48 but 153(sorry for typo previous post) and 161 did not work. They Router remained on 48 when I scanned. I did not try to reboot the router after the change as I thought it should take it on the fly?

Reboot of router is not required. How did you know that 153 channel is not set? Can you telnet or ssh to the board and type "wl -i eth2 status"?
I was using the same scanner that I did in previous posts. It would never update with the new channel. It did update with channel 48 but 153 or 161 did not update. I'll try the command you sent this weekend when I'm on site where the router is to see if it's really updating. Thanks.

Too much fun over the New Years weekend. I'll try to tackle this again this coming weekend....LOL!
DDWRT has been chugging along quite well since the last update: Firmware:
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/05/12) mega
Time: 12:22:15 up 12 days, 15:47, load average: 0.11, 0.02, 0.00
USB and FTP working well.
VPN passthrough working well.
Bandwidth reliable. 2G and 5G
I still cannot get the higher channels for North America to take on G5. It always stays on Channel 48 no mater what I set in the DDWRT Gui.
See Attachment.
