Hi,

How can I use WAN port as LAN?

I have TP-Link WR1043ND and I use USB 3G modem as WAN. It would be nice to use the free WAN port as an extra LAN port.

I suppose this can be done by editing some config file, because with OpenWRT this works fine.

WAN can be assigned to LAN if WAN is disabled. It would be nice if this could be done with "USB-WAN" too.

I've done all reading. Does not work.

Even checking the box "Assign WAN Port to Switch" seems to be useless.

Hallo zusammen !!!!

if you want to use your WAN port as a LAN port goto:

Setup
Basic Setup

click on connection type under WAN connection type and disable it

when you scroll down, you'll see a check box to turn a WAN port into a LAN port

That's not true.

It works with correct settings, but it will always be messed up after bootting the device.

Commands:

swconfig dev rtl8366rb vlan 1 set ports '0 1 2 3 4 5t'
stopservice lan
startservice lan

will connect WAN port to the other 4 LAN ports correctly, but the setting has to be done after every boot.

So, is there any method to make it permanent? Administration -> Commands -> Save startup is not an answer here. Some other setting overcomes this startup method.

Btw: it also works with OpenWRT. So, it can't be 'unfixable'.

There might be a tiny possibility to make it work by putting only

swconfig dev rtl8366rb vlan 1 set ports '0 1 2 3 4 5t'

in Administration -> Commands - Save startup

leaving commands

stopservice lan
startservice lan

out from it.

i still have to test more.

You are fantastic! Is there a way to get this merged into the builds? Seems like it could be a quick configuration change for this model? Thanks again!
