Hi Guys,
I went through the Wiki for the supported devices and saw the DIR-835 router listed and bought it. Unfortunately i didn't see the comments that the firmware hasn't been ported yet
Do you know if someone is working on a port and if it will take long or should i better return the router and buy a different one?

Next build release IIRC he added support for it at the same time as DIR-825 C1, when that is who knows.. its been well over a month now but we'be went well over 5 months before so... _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

So that means the release could be within 1 week or after 4 month if i understood correctly?
Where can i check the planned releases or announcement, as i didn't find this info in this forum?
Would you suggest to change the router to another model or should i wait?
My other option would be to get a Linksys e2500 or ea2700 (still no WRT support but Linksys looks to have more support in general), as i am in the UAE and there aren't that many options without overpaying a lot.
Compared to the unit you listed its better to wait, Broadcom units like the E2500 have been having extreme troubles with DD-WRT especially lately with wireless stuff like repeater mode & general wireless stability/TX power/throughput that sort of thing. DIR-835 is an Atheros monster even with stock firmware. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

Spec wise the DIR-835 is way ahead of the e2500 why i favor it, too.
My problem is that i want to run openVpn inside the router for which i require the DD-WRT firmware or is there a way to run a VPN on the D-Link stock firmware?
I also just purchased a D-Link DIR835 thinking that it was supported..... but have since seen it is a Work in progress. It looks like a good router, wondering if I should return it for an 825, or keep it and wait for it to be supported.
Beeing a Noob, any ideas on how long it usually takes to go from WIP stage to files? Any advice would be appreciated.

@Sash
Just got one of these in the office and it could use some DD-WRT love. Here are the results of what I've found from the router detection routine:
I haven't cracked the case open on the one I have access to, (it's in the company office) but I could bring in my camera and do it some night this week to confirm if necessary. Based on the FCC submission .pdf the info in the devices table seems to check out. (https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1570911)
As @tatsuya46 mentioned it seems to be the same chipsets as the new 825 H/W, FWIW.
Is this port in progress? The Supported Devices lists it as WIP, but there isn't an entry in the router DB for it yet (or the 825C1 for that matter).
Thanks in advanced for your time looking into this.
I wound up with 2 of these a few days ago (sent someone out to buy 2 more 825's and came back with 835's instead). (Staples had stopped selling the 825 apparently)
They seem like the better unit hardware wise-between the two, but obviously no dd-wrt support yet.
There is quite a big difference. Chances are, you would have got the newer C1 revision if it was the DIR-825. The DIR-835 on the otherhand is 3 stream on 5Ghz and 2-stream on 2.4ghz. DIR-825 is 2-stream on both bands.
Neither of them are fully supported yet in DD-WRT and are still WiP. Not sure if the devs ever got a donated unit, for either. The DIR-835 is quite a beast of a unit.
I flashed a D-Link DIR-835 vA1 with DIR-825 vC1 v20119. The flash was some what successfully. The WAN port and DHCP are both working for LAN internet connections. But the "Advanced Wireless Settings" menu is missing, so I can not adjust the "TX Power." I have disabled the wireless right now and using a Belkin F5D7231-4 V1000 running v14929 to forward the wireless DHCP requests to the D-Link. The setup has been running for four days with no problems.

Enable the Advanced Wireless settings page with the tickbox in Wireless page. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
