I went to http://desipro.de/ddwrt and can find r22200 (Kong). However, insider the folder, there are many different files. Could anyone kind enough to tell me which one is for RT-N16? Can my RT-N16 run on nv64 builds?
Thanks very much for your reply.
One more question. I find kingkong-nv32k-broadcom.bin, which is 11M in size. Can this run on RT-N16? There are only 8M flash memory in the router.
the Asus RT-N16 has 32 mb of ROM space. I am running 3.x version of 22118 BIG and it checks in at 17 mb. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. RT-N16 runs K26 nv32k builds only. If you use Optware, stick to kingkong nv32k 22200M (or 21661M if you have problems with multiple users for FTP and/or Samba). Build 19545M can also be useful if you have multiple (bridged) routers, all running minidlna.
If you do not want to run Optware, use the latest K3.x build, but flash before it an intermediary K3.x build as others have previously indicated. The 3.x builds default to 64 kB NVRAM, which is much better than 32 kB.
Also, if you do not need all the advanced functions of DD-WRT, Asus Merlin firmware would be a better choice.
You may directly flash the kingkong build from recovery mode (no previous DD-WRT firmware installation needed). Just remove power, press WPS button and keep pressing it while you connect power, wait till the power LED flashes rapidly, press Recover button while continuing to press WPS, then don't press WPS anymore but continue to press Recover till the power LED flashes slowly, then go to you computer, set a static IP 192.168.1.3, netmask 255.255.255.0 and standard gateway 192.168.1.1 and use Asus Recovery program or atftp with the following commands:
Code:
connect 192.168.1.1
mode octet
put kingkong-nv32k-broadcom.bin
Wait 10 minutes and if needed remove then power for 10 seconds.
If yo want to flash 3.x builds, flash the required 3.x build from a K26 build only. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

3 times Asus RT-N16 shelved

3 times Linksys WRT610N V2 converted to E3000 and 1 original E3000 running freshtomato 2020.8 (bridged with LAN cable)
I've tried K3.x and decided to go back to K2.6. First, the OpenVPN is not working. When I tried to connect to the PPTP VPN, it even froze my computer. I know that some people say their PPTP VPNs are working fine, but that was not my case.
If your computer froze, there might be something else going on, so do a virus scan with a boot CD, e.g. from BitDefender. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

It only happened when I connected to the K3.x PPTP VPN. My computer was back to normal only when I powered off the router. I kept trying 4 to 5 times; the results were the same.
did you try from another client like an Android phone or tablet or a pc or laptop connected to another network?
problem could be just that one pc with a config error. _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. But basically you want the builds labeled kingkong nv32k
Good luck. _________________ the gpzbc

I don't have other clients at my home to test it. However, one thing I am sure is since I go back to K2.6, the same situation never happens again. If it were really due to a pc conf error, the problem should keep coming back, but it does not.
[quote="chris86"][quote="slobodan"][quote="chris86"]How stable is it compared to the original asus firmware? Do your RT-N16 need to be rebooted often?[/quote]
I only reboot it after applying major OTRW2 updates or after upgrading firmware, in general I leave it run by itself.[/quote]
I have flashed the kingkong nv32 r22000(2 weeks ago) and i would say this is the best build i ever have tested on this router [/quote]
I flashed kingkong nv32 22200 into my RT-N16. After using it for less than 30 minutes, I decided to remove it. I followed all the proper procedures to flash 22200 to my router. It took me almost 10 minutes to input all the settings. After reboot, everything just disappeared and the router was reverted back to factory defaults. It took me another 10 minutes to input all the settings again. In the very last step, I input several lines in the firewall and press "save firewall". Once again, all the things that I had input disappeared, factory defaults again!
I decided to give it one more try. This time I was more careful. I backuped all the things before I saved the firewall. Then I reboot the machine. Guess what, things're just gone with the wind.
In fact, I find this problem with almost all builds that end with the letter "M", such as 15943m, 16758m, 16773m and 22200m. I believe they are from the same source.

I have an Asus RT-N16 running kignkong 22200M and I have no such issues. Beforehand, it has ran previous Kong builds, with no severe issues whatsoever. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

What filesystem are you using? Maybe reformat the drive with FAT32?

Anyone have OpenVPN running on their Asus RT-N16 router?
I need to replace my aging Linksys WRT610N and it seems like the RT-N16 would be a good option. Any experiences or opinions on this router's OpenVPN, USB support, UPnP, or general performance or stability would be much appreciated - thanks in advance!
