Hi

I am looking for a AC router that has good compatibility with DD-WRT, can anyone give some suggestion?

I am currently curious on the asus AC66U and Netgear R6300, as those two are the only ones i know that are able to flash dd-wrt

thanks

As far as anyone knows, is the R6300 going to be supported at some point?

as soon as the device hits my table it will get support.
some other new and much better devices which are supported already will soon hit the market.
the following devices are all comming with 128 mb flash, 256 mb ram and a dualcore arm cpu with 800 mhz (runs with up to 1,2 ghz with overclocking, in theory with 1,6 ghz but its not stable)

Asus RT-AC56U (2x2 802.11ac)
Asus RT-AC67U (3x3 802.11ac)
Buffalo 1750DHP (3x3 802.11ac)

for sure all these devices are dualradio with a secondary 802.11n interface for 2.4 ghz only

I also am looking for a new router, and considering 802.11ac, but it has to support dd-wrt. The only one in your router database is Asus RT-AC66U, with beta firmware. Are there others that I am missing?

I need a stable solution so I might have to go with 802.11n, but I just noticed the top solution there, the Asus RT-N66U, also uses v24preSP2 beta, different build though.

So anyway, I am not an expert with all of this but I have successfully flashed several dd-wrt builds, and am currently running it on my Cisco E2500 (which I noticed is also v24preSP2 beta).

So it looks like the beta label I am looking at doesn't mean much.

I'm just looking for a recommendation for a solid performing mature/stable dd-wrt router. Is 802.11ac an option for me? Any advice?

I'm using DD-WRT on a pair of Asus RT-AC66U's and I've found that DD-WRT is more stable and performs better than the stock firmware...

So, go fer it!

Will AC hardware change before it's final? or just firmware?

i think just firmware/driver. but i dont expect many changes to the final. personally i think the AC67 anf the AC56 is very good. the new D1750 from buffalo with 512 mb ram is also very exciting. they all use the new dualcore arm cpu

Perhaps, but sticking with the topic, that buffalo unit is no AC wireless router.

Google wireless-AC. Basically, it's the newest wifi hardware that supports speeds up to 1300Mbps (theoretical). Basically, it's 2x or 3x faster than wireless-N.
